Job Summary:
The Advanced Clinical Exercise Physiologist functions as an expert level practitioner within the cardiac rehabilitation program. This clinician manages high acuity and complex patients using evidence-based practice and advanced clinical reasoning. In addition to direct patient care, this role assumes leadership responsibilities including mentoring, competency development, quality improvement, and departmental coordination.
Responsibilities:
• Performs advanced assessments and develops integrated plans of care.
• Manages high acuity and complex patients independently.
• Designs and implements evidence-based exercise prescriptions.
• Monitors patient progress and coordinates interdisciplinary care, responds appropriately to clinical situations including exercise cessation and referral to medical staff.
• Identifies barriers to patient success and implements interventions.
• Serves as mentor and preceptor for junior staff, leads competency validation and orientation processes.
• Provides advanced education and counseling to patients and families.
• Collaborate swith physicians and interdisciplinary team regarding patient progress
• Coordinates quality improvement and research initiatives.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation in the medical record.
• Maintains knowledge of departmental equipment and assists with maintenance, participates in and informs departmental education and in services.
• Assists with staffing, operations, vendor coordination, and AACVPR certification maintenance.
• Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
Education:
• Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, or related field. Additional graduate level coursework or specialty training preferred.
Licensure, Certification, Registration:
• Expert knowledge of ACSM and AACVPR standards.
• Leadership and mentoring capability.
• Advanced critical thinking and case management.
• Ability to lead projects and quality initiatives.
• Maintenance of advanced competencies including LVAD and arrhythmia interpretation.
• Additional advanced cardiovascular certifications are preferred.
Language Skills
• Fluent English . Bilingual in English, Spanish or fluency is another language a plus.
Work Experience:
• Minimum four (4) years clinical cardiac rehabilitation experience.
• Prior experience with program development and leadership initiatives preferred.
