Job Summary:
The Wisconsin Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC) within the School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) is seeking a research Nurse Practitioner (NP) to complement the Wisconsin Longitudinal Study (WLS), a world-renowned study that has followed its participants for nearly 70 years. In the current effort (the Initial Lifetime's Impact on Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias (WLS-ILIAD)), the ADRC has partnered with WLS and the University of Wisconsin - Survey Center (UWSC) to map dementia prevalence within this unique cohort. This aim will help us to understand the complex relationship between life-course sociodemographic, health and lifestyle factors, and late-life dementia risk.

The successful candidate will assist the Principal Investigators (PIs) and the clinical research team with the operations of clinical research studies, under the guidelines of research protocols and UW Madison policies. Primary responsibilities include conducting comprehensive medical assessments of research participants (neurological/physical exams and detailed health history) and contributing to a multi-disciplinary clinician panel, alongside a geriatrician and neuropsychologist, to arrive at a consensus-based research diagnosis of dementia.

Travel is required to conduct study visits in participants' homes across the country in coordination with trained field interviewers from the University of Wisconsin Survey Center. For travel outside the Midwest, the cost of flights, hotel stays, and rental cars is fully reimbursable, although may require upfront costs to be paid by the employee when booking (up to ~$500). Local travel within the Midwest will be arranged using University-sponsored Fleet vehicles. Amount of travel will vary from week to week but is estimated at 1 day per week on average. Although rare, some study visits to participants' homes may occur in the evenings or on weekends.

• This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
• This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations.The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
• Must provide a valid driver's license. Employees may use their own transportation or receive approval for University Car Fleet usage. Key Job Responsibilities:

• Develops, implements, collects data, and evaluates primary health care services as directed by individual care plans

• Develops individualized care plans based on medical assessments in accordance with medical best practices and established rules and regulations

• Educates patients and their support systems on how to manage conditions and to promote the health and well-being of patients and those around them

• May provide expertise, training, and guidance to the community, peers, and/or students

• Collaborates with research teams to develop and implement study visit protocols, including serious adverse event evaluation, prescreening medical records, and interpreting lab and imaging results

• Assesses, diagnoses, and treats illnesses, and manages chronic health problems

Compensation:
The minimum salary for the position is $100,000 annually; but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:

• Current Wisconsin Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license with the recognized role of Nurse Practitioner (NP), or eligibility to obtain prior to start date
• Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) License required by the start date of the position.
• Current Nurse Practitioner certification or eligibility to obtain prior to start date

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience or training to work with geriatric patients and/or persons with cognitive impairment
• Experience in clinical research, neurology, and/or performing procedures

Education:
Master's Degree required. The successful candidate must be a graduate from an accredited nursing school.
