Administrative Nursing Manager MMG

Under the leadership of the Director of Nursing, the Administrative Nurse Manager (ANM) has 24/7 clinical accountability. The ANM is responsible for direct patient care for a clinic or clinics within Montefiore Medical Group. Utilizing the nursing process, the ANM is responsible for creating a safe environment that supports the delivery of high-quality patient care.

The ANM assigns, plans, implements, evaluates, and provides supervision for one or more clinics delivering care for patients. Serves as a role model and assigns, directs, and instructs nursing personnel in all clinical areas for all clinical nursing activities.

Responsibilities
  • In coordination with the Director of Nursing, coordinate, guide, and direct the implementation of new/special projects for improving delivery of care, evaluating as needed.
  • Guide, coordinate, and direct the development and maintenance of a system of evaluation of nursing care, practices, and procedures, including the evaluation of nursing personnel within the clinical service at the clinic.
  • Maintain clinical expertise in specialty and serve as a resource person for nursing personnel and other health team members in the clinic.
  • Participate in the determination of conditions, resources, and policies essential to the delivery of nursing care within the clinical service for the clinic, acting as a mentor for new and incumbent staff.
  • Maintain orientation and educational records of programs presented/attended; submit reports in a timely manner.
  • Possess strong computer skills along with the ability to educate users on technology/software.
  • Initiate and maintain a system of communication with staff during clinic hours of operation.
  • Participate in Departmental QI, Infection Control, Discharge Planning, and accreditation activities.
  • Provide supervision to assigned areas at all sites.
  • Serve as a resource person to unit staff and assume responsibility for the management of several units at all sites, as designated on weekends and all tours.
  • Provide direct care to patients in all clinical areas as needed.
  • Actively participate in scheduled supervisory meetings/classes and continuing education programs.
  • Review and analyze trends pertinent to the delivery of nursing care within the clinical service at all sites, initiating appropriate innovations or making recommendations for needed changes.
  • Plan, organize, revise, conduct, and evaluate didactic and clinical orientation programs for new nursing staff; supervise clinical experience of nurses during orientation period; make recommendations for follow-up orientation when appropriate for the clinic.
  • Develop, plan, assist in the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of training for nursing personnel and educational activities for professional and allied nursing personnel at all sites; circulate schedules and individually communicate information regarding in-services, classes, and courses.

Requirements
  • BA required, MSN preferred
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license and registration in the state of New York.
  • 5+ years of clinical nursing experience, with a minimum of 3 years of progressive supervisory or healthcare management experience required.
  • Current Infection Control and Basic Life Support certifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective collaborative relationships, decisive risk-taking, analytical problem-solving, and make timely decisions.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience working with electronic medical records.
  • Experience and/or interest in community-based healthcare and serving diverse patient populations.


Associates are eligible to apply for a lateral transfer after completion of one (1) year of service in their present position, with the following exception: an Associate who has received a written warning is not eligible for a transfer/promotion prior to six (6) months from date of issuance; an Associate who has been suspended is not eligible for transfer/promotion prior to one (1) year from date of suspension. Part-time Associates who have completed their probationary period can move to full-time vacancies within their department provided such movement will not unreasonably reduce the operational efficiency of that department. Probationary period is six (6) months for full-time employees, and four (4) months for part-time employees who works more than 3/5 of the normal workweek.
