Overview

The Administrator II – Enterprise Operations serves as a senior administrative leader for EVMS Medical Group, providing operational, financial, and strategic leadership across clinical departments and enterprise initiatives.This position provides flexible leadership capacity to support departmental operations, enterprise priorities, and organizational transformation. The Administrator II may be assigned responsibility for one or more clinical departments, deployed to provide interim leadership during administrator vacancies or transitions, lead enterprise-wide operational initiatives, support organizational growth, or oversee strategic improvement projects based on Medical Group priorities.Working collaboratively with Department Chairs, physician leaders, executive leadership, and administrative partners, this position advances operational excellence, financial stewardship, physician practice performance, patient access, quality outcomes, and organizational growth while ensuring continuity of leadership across the Medical Group.

Responsibilities Department Operations & Administrative Leadership
  • Direct day-to-day administrative operations.
  • Manage ambulatory and hospital-based physician practice operations.
  • Ensure operational continuity during leadership transitions.
  • Develop operational policies, procedures, and standardized workflows.
  • Optimize patient access, staffing, scheduling, and provider productivity.
  • Ensure regulatory, accreditation, and Medical Group compliance.
  • Partner with practice managers and clinical leadership to improve performance.
Enterprise Leadership & Organizational Initiatives
  • Serve as interim administrator during vacancies or leadership transitions.
  • Lead enterprise-wide initiatives and cross-functional projects.
  • Support organizational integration, restructuring, and new program implementation.
  • Accept evolving assignments based on Medical Group priorities.
Executive Communication & Organizational Partnership
  • Prepare executive reports, dashboards, and presentations.
  • Build partnerships with physicians, executives, hospital partners, and institutional leadership
Strategic Partnership with Department Chairs
  • Translate departmental vision into operational execution.
  • Develop strategic growth initiatives and business plans.
  • Support physician recruitment, onboarding, and workforce planning.
  • Lead implementation of new clinical programs and service expansion.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor regarding operational, financial, and strategic decisions.
Financial Leadership & Business Management
  • Develop operating and capital budgets.
  • Lead forecasting, productivity analysis, pro formas, and ROI evaluations.
  • Monitor financial performance and recommend improvement strategies.
  • Identify revenue enhancement and expense management opportunities.
Revenue Cycle & Operational Performance
  • Provide oversight of registration, authorizations, charge capture, coding, denials, collections, and documentation workflows.
  • Monitor operational dashboards and key revenue cycle metrics.
Performance Improvement & Operational Excellence
  • Lead data-driven performance improvement initiatives.
  • Develop corrective action plans.
  • Standardize workflows and operational best practices.
  • Improve quality, access, productivity, patient experience, and financial performance.
Academic, Faculty & Research Administration
  • Support faculty recruitment, onboarding, appointments, credentialing, promotion, compensation administration, GME, and research administration.
  • Assist with grant-related financial oversight and workforce planning.
Scope of Responsibility
  • May permanently oversee one or more departments.
  • May provide interim leadership during vacancies.
  • May lead enterprise-wide initiatives and organizational turnaround efforts.
  • Exercises considerable independent judgment while partnering with Department Chairs and executive leadership.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree plus seven years of progressively responsible healthcare administration experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in healthcare finance, physician practice operations, strategic planning, revenue cycle, and performance improvement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree preferred
  • Epic experience preferred
