OVERVIEW OF THE ROLEThis position serves as the confidential assistant and provides high level administrative support to the Regional Director, Board President and Board of Commissioners of the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority - West (SLFPA W). This position is responsible for handling contracts and grants for SLFPA-W and its member districts. The incumbent performs duties independently and exercises a high degree of independent judgment and initiative in determining the approach/action to take in non-routine situations.
Minimum QualificationsSix years of experience in administrative services; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in administrative services; OR
A bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in administrative services; OR
An advanced degree plus two years of experience in administrative services.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties:
- Oversees the preparation of official documents for the collection of ad valorem taxes for the Authority and its member districts.
- Verifies accuracy of prepared documents and ensures compliance with procedures from the Louisiana Legislative Auditor, assessor's office, local municipalities, etc. Recommends approval of said documents to the Regional Director and Board of Commissioners.
- Attends courses on assessment of ad valorem taxes (setting millage rates) to remain up to date on current assessment laws, policies, and procedures. Makes recommendations to the Regional Director and Board of Commissioners on needed procedural changes for upcoming assessments. Implements revisions to ad valorem collection procedures.
- Provides high-level administrative support for, and serves as confidential assistant to the Board President and Board of Commissioners. • Attends meetings with the Regional Director to take notes.
- Independently prepares and composes correspondence involving complex, diverse, and non-routine matters.
- Maintains all administrative records and files for the Authority and its member districts.
- Maintains Regional Director's and Board President's calendars, as instructed, making appointments and arranging meeting rooms and materials.
- Handles calls regarding SLFPA-W matters as delegated by the Regional Director and/or Board President.
- Ensures that requests for action and information are answered satisfactorily and promptly.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational - Up to 24 months
Career Progression: This position is not part of a Career Progression Group.
Work Schedule: Work hours are 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Thursday.
Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
