Description:

Position Summary:

Sets the vision and direction for clinical care in the delivery of safe, timely, efficient, equitable and patient centered care throughout areas of responsibility including acute, ambulatory and community areas across the West Michigan market of Trinity Health or Joint Ventures and Network Collaborations with external partners. Directs the systems and processes for delivering care for defined patient populations within clinical service area. Accountable for zero harm strategies across areas of responsibility. Responsible for financial planning and performance measures including but not limited to; productivity measures, ensuring adequate standards to meet care needs, capital planning, financial stewardship, budget planning, growth initiatives and cost containment actions. Ensures compatibility with recommendations and compliance from accrediting agencies. Has an active role in human resources management of colleague engagement, workforce planning, and accountability management. Full complement of management responsibilities including; short and long-term planning and development, human resource management, managing and developing physician relationships, financial accountability, quality assessment and improvement, regulatory compliance, productivity management, operational excellence and assuring consistency with the organizational and health system strategic plans. This position holds responsibility for using a collaborative approach to setting strategic direction, development of new services, service line growth, and marketing of assigned clinical services. May have areas of responsibility that are unrelated to service line or multiple key programs. Significant sphere of influence and impact to organization due to large number of FTE's, multimillion-dollar operating budgets and key program and services responsibility. Responsible to appropriate governing bodies or executive teams of responsibility to grow and oversee indicated services or programs as outlined in the partnership or collaborative agreements in addition to local responsibility. Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Progressive management/leadership experience in a health care environment or equivalent combination of education, training, & experience


Additional Qualifications
  • Nursing or clinical background preferred
  • Experience in clinical service/field with increasing responsibilities &/or case complexities
  • Specialty related certifications


What the Administrative Director, Clinical Services and External Partnerships will do:
  • Leads service line and areas of responsibility across multiple campuses, including external to the company; responsible for meeting objectives and deliverables to multiple senior leadership teams and governance structures.
  • Develops, implements and administers the service line strategic business and financial plans in accordance with organizational strategic plan, integrating them into the daily program operations. Documents, communicates and revises plans annually to act as a guide for the entire service line. Helps others establish proper goals, objectives and priorities that have meaning and significance to the overall mission and strategic plan of the Organization.
  • Provides operations & / or optimization leadership focus; Multiple departments / specialties or division; May provide leadership & direction through managers or senior managers.
  • Accountable for ensuring organizational mission, values & goals are being carried out within a matrixed organization.
  • Develops, implements, & administers the service line strategic business & financial plans in accordance with organizational strategic plan, integrating them into the daily program operations. Documents, communicates & revises plans annually to act as a guide for the entire service line.
  • Develops & implements systems to ensure quality, efficiency, & cost-effective operations which support & achieve goals & objectives of the clinical service lines assigned. Works in partnership with key stakeholders, including members of the medical staff & local/community agencies to achieve desired clinical, financial, & people outcomes for patients, & staff; including representing assigned service lines with various local agencies & organizations. Along with physicians, identifies changes needed within department & implements, manages, & evaluates the change process.
