The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Responsibilities:

NP/PA

FT position available. Mon-Fri. Weekends per unit need (one weekend per month) No call. No nights. No holidays.

Opportunity to join a busy, growing Acute Pain Service in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine. The service provides patient-centered care throughout the hospital, including but not limited to the Level 1 Trauma Center, Cardiac Surgery, Burn/Trauma, thoracic surgery, orthopedic surgery, and Wilmot Cancer Center. Daily responsibilities include: performing initial H&P on new acute pain consults, daily rounding, developing pain management plans and communicating those plans to the primary teams, suggesting referrals to other services (PT/OT, psychiatry, etc), and collaborating on complex pain management issues. The APP will review data and recommendations with Anesthesiologist Attending, as indicated. Will provide improved continuity of care for existing patients on the Acute Pain Service, as attendings and residents rotate on and off the service. The APP will assist with acute pain procedures. The APP will also partake in quality initiatives such as the development, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive perioperative, opioid-sparing, and enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols. Applicant will have the opportunity to participate in QI and treatment-related research undertaken by Anesthesiology providers. APP will assist in providing education regarding pain management therapies to residents, and nursing staff. In addition to adult acute pain, the APS team is piloting a service line for a transitional pain services (for opioid weaning in high risk patients) that APP will participate in as well. Experience in postoperative pain management a plus, but not required. New graduates welcome to apply. Strong interpersonal and communication skills a must as position will require candidate to develop relationships with floor and surgical teams in order to provide a better communication platform to advocate for patient care. Demonstrated clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn. The position influences the quality and delivery of care in various roles including consultant, researcher, mentor, and practitioner. This role may be unit, program, or service based and is involved in continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Nurse Practitioner

Require a Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner, an active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing, an active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing and current national certification as an Nurse Practitioner.

Physician Assistant

Required completion of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program, an active New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing and current national certification as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants)

NPs and PAs will demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn. The APP will participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training.
