Job Description:

The Actuary Reviewer is responsible for providing professional actuarial support to the collaborative review and approval of Compact product filings as efficiently as possible in accordance with the Uniform Standards, Operating Procedures and other organizational processes and requirements. This team member provides actuarial support to the Product Operations of the Commission by responding to questions and providing guidance primarily on actuarial matters to current and potential company filers, regulators, and other Compact stakeholders.

This is a full-time position, remote position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Applies sound actuarial principles, maintains actuarial qualifications and adheres to Actuarial Standards Board Standards of Practice.


  • Reviews product and rate filings in a timely, thorough manner to determine compliance with applicable Uniform Standards, Rules, Operating Procedures and Filing Requirements.


  • Completes objection letters, actuarial checklists, correspondence, and filing documentation; follows through on responses and appropriately documents regulatory decisions.


  • Collaborates with actuaries, product reviewers, Compact leadership, and Product Operations team members to resolve actuarial questions, support workload management and promote consistent application of Uniform Standards.


  • Responds to pre-filing inquiries and assists with actuarial questions from company filers, regulators, insurers, consulting filers, consumers and other Compact stakeholders.


  • Provides actuarial guidance, training, presentations, background materials, and reports related to product filing requirements, review activities and regulatory best practices.


  • Attends and supports Product Operations, Commission, Compact, NAIC committee and technical group meetings as needed to support organizational priorities and actuarial issue resolution.


Minimum Education and/or experience required:

  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, Mathematics, Statistics, or similar degree from an accredited college or university and at least 2 years of actuarial experience working with annuities and/or life insurance.


  • Familiarity with Compact Uniform Standards


  • Life Associate Actuary: Must have an Associate of the Society of Actuaries designation.


Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with annuity and/or life insurance product development, pricing and compliance. Group and individual product experience.


Systems & Technology Requirements

  • Microsoft SharePoint, Word, Outlook, Excel and other Microsoft Office products.


  • System for Electronic Rate and Form Filing (SERFF)


Travel:

This position requires regular, out-of-state, overnight travel in support of member meetings and events throughout the year.

Compensation:

Starting at $107,253 - $160,000, to be commensurate with experience and education.
