Full Job Description
Actuarial Sr. Consultant - Professional Lines Pricing (Remote)

Nationwide is seeking an experienced actuarial professional to join our Professional Lines Pricing team in a highly visible role supporting a dynamic and evolving portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity for a pricing actuary who wants to do more than run analysis. In this role, you will serve as a key business-facing actuarial partner, work directly with underwriting leaders on strategy, and help shape decisions on portfolio performance, pricing direction, and where the business goes next.

What makes this role compelling
  • High-impact actuarial role supporting Nationwide's Professional Lines business and pricing strategy.
  • Meaningful partnership with underwriting and business leaders, with strong visibility into strategic decisions.
  • Opportunity to work across a specialized set of commercial insurance products rather than a narrow, repetitive assignment.
  • Exposure to both core actuarial pricing work and forward-looking modeling initiatives as the team continues to evolve.

What you will do
  • Lead actuarial pricing analysis and strategy support for Professional Lines products and portfolios.
  • Act as a primary actuarial point of contact for underwriting leaders, helping connect analysis to business strategy and portfolio decisions.
  • Perform and communicate actuarial analysis in a way that supports changes to the book, pricing recommendations, and broader business decisions.
  • Partner across actuarial and business functions to evaluate performance, identify opportunities, and influence next steps.
  • Support modeling-related work over time, particularly as future projects develop across the team's portfolio.

What we are looking for
  • Strong actuarial pricing experience in Property & Casualty insurance, with the ability to work independently and operate as a senior business-facing partner.
  • Professional Lines experience is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with underwriting leaders and other business partners, not just perform technical analysis.
  • Strong actuarial foundation in technical tools such as Excel, SQL, and Python.

Strong pluses
  • Background in a smaller carrier or similarly hands-on environment where you have needed to work broadly across pricing, strategy, and technical analysis.
  • Modeling experience, especially for candidates who can pair pricing expertise with broader analytical or predictive-modeling capability.
  • Experience with Python, R, or similar coding tools.

The kind of person who will do well here

This role is best suited for someone who combines strong pricing judgment with business presence. The ideal candidate can understand the product, speak credibly with underwriting leaders, work with a high level of independence, and translate actuarial analysis into practical strategic guidance. Professional Lines experience is a meaningful advantage, but Nationwide is also open to strong commercial pricing talent that can demonstrate the potential to step into this space successfully.

This role can be staffed fully remote.
