Full Job Description
Actuarial Analyst - AS08CE

Worker's Compensation is ~$3.5B line of business across Small Business and Middle/Large Business, and The Hartford is a market leader within the WC industry.

This position plays a key role for the Workers Comp LOB Actuarial team and will be supporting the traditional actuarial rate execution team. The position will be responsible for producing state level rate change recommendations, develop filing strategy and support the filing process. The candidate will have the opportunity to directly interact with business partners, including Product, IT, and multiple groups across Actuarial.

We are looking for individuals who are curious and motivated to improve current processes and who can communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Process state rate filings to ensure the rate plan execution.


  • Develop enhancements to streamline state filings process


  • Partner with Product to understand and communicate drivers of change in rate level


  • Partner with Product to support product enhancements or new product to enhance the WC's competitive position


  • Complete ad hoc projects to support business priorities


  • Help complete annual Indication assumptions updates and ensure that the source of the information is properly documented.


  • Project quarterly dividend payment and share the results with dividend committee.


  • Share knowledge and projects across the WC pricing team.


Experience & Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Actuarial exam path to become a credentialed actuary with at least 2-4 passed exams required.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively resolve complex issues.
  • Strong Excel skills required. Knowledge of SQL, VBA, R, Python, SAS or similar code languages a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail with strong time and project management skills.
  • Driven, intellectually curious, passionate, resourceful and creative.
  • Proactive individual, who challenges existing processes, can influence others and drive a process to a conclusion while meeting critical deadlines


Work Arrangement:

This role will be hybrid in our Hartford CT location.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$76,800 - $115,200
