Job Summary:The Standard is seeking a talented actuary to join the Asset Modeling Team within Corporate Actuarial and Risk Management (CARM). In this role, you will support the development, maintenance, and production of asset models used in asset-liability management (ALM), cash flow testing, regulatory reporting, and enterprise risk management activities.
You will work with a broad range of asset classes, including corporate bonds, structured securities, commercial mortgages, derivatives, and alternative investments, while developing an understanding of how interest rates, credit spreads, and market conditions impact asset values, financial results, and the company's risk profile.
Responsibilities include asset modeling, economic scenario generation and analysis, reporting, model governance, and process automation. You will gain experience with GGY AXIS, Moody's Scenario Generator, Python, SQL, Power BI, and other actuarial and analytical tools while collaborating closely with actuarial modeling, ALM, governance, and reporting teams across the organization.
This role provides a unique opportunity to develop technical actuarial expertise, gain insight into investment and risk management practices, contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives, and support analyses that help ensure the company can meet its long-term obligations to policyholders.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities: - Own assigned asset modeling processes and models, including production execution, analysis, validation, documentation, and ongoing maintenance.
- Support the production, validation, and analysis of asset models used in asset-liability management (ALM), cash flow testing, regulatory reporting, and enterprise risk management activities.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance asset modeling capabilities within GGY AXIS and related platforms, including the analysis of corporate bonds, commercial mortgages, structured securities, derivatives, and alternative investments.
- Generate, validate, and analyze economic scenarios and interest rate sensitivity measures, including key rate duration analyses, to assess asset and portfolio risk exposures.
- Review model output, investigate results, and communicate key findings while collaborating with actuarial modeling, ALM, governance, and reporting teams across the organization.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, transparency, and controls through process automation, analytical tool development, model enhancements, and methodology improvements using Python, SQL, Power BI, and related technologies.

Actuarial students are expected to progress through the levels of the job family based on academic/exam achievements and by developing their analytical skills, independent decision making, and effective communication and leadership skills.
Your studies will be supported through our actuarial student development program. Actuarial students are expected to complete exams and other coursework that are required for Associate and/or Fellow designations through the Society of Actuaries. This position is part of our student rotation program, meaning you will rotate to an actuarial role in one of our three other distinct product lines or to our corporate actuarial department.
Skills and Background You'll Need: Education: Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, business, related fields, or comparable work experience required
Experience: - Minimum 2 years of actuarial experience, or equivalent combination of actuarial work experience and internships.
- Successful completion of 3 or more actuarial exams.
- Experience working with large datasets and maintaining, enhancing, validating, & analyzing actuarial, financial, or quantitative models.
- Exposure to life insurance, asset modeling, ALM, financial reporting, or risk management concepts (preferred)
Skills: - Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- Modeling experience (GGY AXIS preferred)
- Dashboarding and data visualization (Power BI preferred)
- Proficiency in Python and SQL for analytical and automation applications
- Ability to review model output, identify key drivers, and evaluate reasonableness of results

The actual compensation for this role will be based on a combination of education and experience, knowledge and skills, position budget, internal equity, and market data.
Salary Range:
$82,250.00 - $120,750.00
