Your Opportunity

In this role, you will have the opportunity to support complex, high-visibility projects and influence acoustic design direction across multidisciplinary teams. You will contribute to projects that define communities-hospitals, rapid transit programs, vibration-sensitive facilities, and national defense infrastructure projects. You will have opportunities for specialization, leadership growth, and direct involvement in shaping Stantec's acoustic methodologies, tools, and practice direction.

Your Key Responsibilities

Technical Delivery & Acoustics Expertise:
  • Perform architectural acoustics and vibration design, including noise and vibration control for M&E systems
  • Conduct modeling, analysis, data processing, and interpretation across a range of acoustic applications
  • Develop clear recommendations and design inputs through reports, sketches, and presentations
  • Complete field reviews, shop drawing evaluations, and construction-phase guidance
  • Support site visits, surveys, and technical documentation
  • Ensure accuracy, quality, and consistency across all deliverables

Project Management & Delivery Excellence:
  • Support acoustic projects from initiation to completion, managing scope, schedule, and budget
  • Integrate acoustic design within multidisciplinary project environments
  • Maintain accountability to project milestones and deliverables

Client Engagement & Communication:
  • Support strong client relationships through responsive and professional communication
  • Support presentations, workshops, and technical discussions with clients and design teams
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable recommendations
  • Support Stantec's reputation for excellence through high-quality service delivery

Leadership, Mentorship & Team Development:
  • Mentor junior staff, supporting their technical and professional development
  • Provide technical direction on complex assignments and support team coordination
  • Contribute to training, knowledge sharing, and team standardization
  • Strengthen our collaborative and inclusive NVA culture across Canadian offices


Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Foundation in architectural acoustics, HVAC noise control, and vibration isolation
  • Experience with room acoustics and building simulation tools such as Odeon, EASE, INSUL, or equivalent
  • Experience with P3, IPD, or progressive design-build project delivery methods is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of standards, including National Building Code, CSA Z317.2, ASHRAE Guidelines, FGI Guidelines, and relevant ISO/ASTM standards
  • Strong communication skills with strengths in client engagement, presentations, and negotiation
  • Organized, creative, and capable of managing multiple assignments
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, CAD software, and relevant acoustics tools
  • Valid driver's license and ability to support occasional planned fieldwork and travel

Education and Experience

Graduate of an accredited university or college with an engineering, science, or technical degree in a related discipline

Minimum 4 years of consulting experience in architectural acoustics and/or mechanical noise control

Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration or eligibility with the Professional Engineers of Ontario or another Canadian province is an asset; candidates with alternative technical backgrounds (e.g., physics, architecture) are also encouraged to apply

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

About the Team

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
