Accounting Manager

Dirigo Management Company is seeking an experienced Accounting Managerto lead our accounting operations and bookkeeping team from our Portland, Maine headquarters. This is an opportunity to join one of Maine's leading property management companies, where you'll play a key leadership role overseeing accounting operations, improving processes, and helping drive the company's continued growth.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.


  • 5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably within property management, condominium/homeowner association management, or real estate.


  • Demonstrated leadership experience with a track record of coaching, mentoring, and managing accounting or bookkeeping teams.


  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, financial reporting, and billing processes.


  • Advanced Excel skills.


  • Experience with property management accounting software preferred, Peachtree (Sage), and NetSuite.


  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.


  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities with a high level of accuracy.


  • Experience with condominium/HOA, commercial, and residential accounting.

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the primary liaison between Dirigo and Corporate, ensuring clear communication, alignment, and execution of organizational initiatives.


  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, journal entries, general ledger activity, and month-end/year-end close processes.


  • Monitor workload distribution, staffing needs, cash management procedures, and internal financial controls.

  • Manage corporate billing operations, including reviewing contracts and management agreements to ensure billing accuracy and maximize revenue capture.
