Position SummaryThe Accounting Manager oversees day-to-day accounting for assigned manufacturing business units, ensuring accurate financial transactions, reconciliations, payroll, invoicing, inventory accounting, and month-end close.
This position is the first point of escalation above the Accounting Clerk and partners with the Controller and plant leadership to resolve accounting issues, maintain internal controls, standardize processes, and improve efficiency through technology and automation.
Primary Responsibilities- Manage daily accounting activities, journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Complete assigned month-end close activities for controller review within 3 days.
- Support financial and management reporting.
- Oversee customer invoicing, cash application, collections, vendor invoices, ACH and check runs, and company credit card reconciliation.
- Set up approved customers and vendors.
- Process and post biweekly payroll and respond to routine payroll inquiries.
- Support accounting for raw materials, work in progress, and finished goods inventory.
- Assist with physical inventories, cycle counts, standard costs, and variance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, Corporate policies, internal controls, and sales-tax requirements.
- Support internal and external audits and assist with corrective actions.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, standardization, and automation.
- Partner with Operations, Purchasing, Sales, Customer Service, and plant leadership to resolve accounting issues.
- Support other accounting tasks, transactions, and functions as needed.
- Complete special projects assigned by the Controller.
Qualifications- Experience with general accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end close.
- Knowledge of GAAP and internal accounting controls.
- Manufacturing accounting experience is a plus.
- Proficiency with Excel and ERP systems; familiarity with AI and automation tools is preferred.

Decision-Making and AccountabilityThe Accounting Manager may resolve routine accounting, payroll, customer, vendor, and reconciliation issues within established policies. Significant accounting judgments, unusual transactions, policy exceptions, and matters with material financial impact must be escalated to the Controller.
Success is measured by financial accuracy, timely close completion, compliance, effective inventory and cost accounting, responsive stakeholder service, process improvement, and strong cross-functional teamwork.
