Description*Seeking an Accounting Manager II with experience in Trucking*
Job Summary:
The Accounting Manager will oversee the financial operations of Duncan Trucking LTD and other related companies, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant accounting across multiple entities. This role requires a hands-on leader with strong trucking industry experience who can manage fleet accounting, driver and carrier settlements, payroll structures, IFTA reporting, financial close, and internal controls while partnering closely with operations, leadership, and other accounting professionals.
Job duties:
- Financial Management and Reporting - Manage month-end and year-end close processes for multiple entities, including general ledger activity, financial statements, balance sheet and bank reconciliations, and overall accuracy of financial records.
- Billing, Settlements, and Compensation - Oversee high-volume freight billing, driver and broker settlements, and complex driver compensation, including mileage-based pay, per-diem, and owner-operator settlements.
- Compliance, Controls, and Audit - Develop and maintain internal controls to mitigate risk and prevent fraud; ensure GAAP compliance; coordinate IFTA reporting; and serve as liaison with external CPAs for audits and financial reviews.
- Accounting Team Leadership and Development - Supervise, train, and develop accounting personnel; establish clear processes and accountability; and ensure consistent accounting practices across Duncan and related companies.
- Fleet and Equipment Accounting - Oversee accounting for trucks, trailers, and other fleet assets, including depreciation, purchases, disposals, inventory records, and equipment leases.
- Process Improvement and Business Support - Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, systems, efficiency, and accuracy while providing financial support and guidance to company leadership and operations.
Schedule: Monday Through Friday 8 AM to 5 PM
Pay: $90,000 to $110,000 annualized
Must have a Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or at least five (5) years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in trucking, transportation, or logistics. Must have multi-company accounting experience, including general ledger, fixed assets, fleet/equipment accounting, inventory records, reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end close. Strong accounting and communication skills are required. Two (2) to three (3) years of supervisory or management experience is preferred. Experience with driver settlements, payroll structures, IFTA reporting, freight billing, and equipment leases is highly desirable. Must be able to work from the company facility.
