Full Job Description
The Accounting Manager will be a critical member of the General Accounting team. This role will be responsible for overseeing the accounting, analysis, and reporting of operating expenses accruals and capitalized assets, while ensuring compliance with company policies, U.S. GAAP, and internal control requirements. The Accounting Manager will partner with business leaders, FP&A, and other finance teams to support the monthly close process, maintain accurate financial records, and drive continuous improvement in accounting processes and controls.

Key Accountabilities/Deliverables:

  • Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes for the General Accounting team.
  • Partner with cost center owners and division presidents to identify, analyze, and record monthly and quarterly operating expense accruals.
  • Review monthly and quarterly balance sheet reconciliations for completeness and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with FP&A to review monthly budget-versus-actual (BvA) analyses for all cost centers and spend categories for operating expense.
  • Review the Deferred Acquisition Cost (DAC) calculation and partner with P&C Accounting to obtain and validate key inputs used in the calculation.
  • Review Non-Deferred Acquisition Cost (NDAC) calculations and partner with FP&A to obtain and validate key assumptions and inputs used in the calculation.
  • Establish and maintain time-tracking guidelines that define activities eligible for capitalization in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Review capitalization requests and supporting documentation to ensure appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Maintain the Company's Fixed Asset Accounting Policy and recommend updates as accounting guidance or business practices evolve.
  • Coordinate and perform annual impairment assessments of capitalized assets and document supporting conclusions.
  • Review and distribute Fixed Asset Reports to management.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and schedules for regulatory and statutory filings.
  • Support internal and external audits by coordinating requests and providing required documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and strengthen internal controls.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff and seniors to support professional growth and operational excellence.
  • Review work prepared by staff and/or senior accountants and provide coaching, training, and constructive feedback.
  • Perform other duties as reasonably required to support the needs of the organization

Technical Knowledge and Understanding:
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical abilities, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across departments and communicate with all levels of management.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal control concepts.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis techniques.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Experience:
