The role partners closely with Finance and cross-functional business teams to prepare and review journal entries, financial statements, variance analyses, and account reconciliations while identifying opportunities to strengthen controls, streamline processes, and improve reporting value.

  • Partner with business stakeholders to continuously evaluate benefit plans and determine accounting impacts related to population changes, COLI death gains, short-term versus long-term payment schedules, and participant-level adjustments for non-qualified plans.
  • Lead the relationship with the third-party business license vendor, helping ensure licenses across all stores remain compliant and are renewed on time.
  • Manage the prepaid supplier invoice process in Workday, ensuring applicable invoices are properly captured and amortization schedules are accurately established.
  • Own the end-to-end IT accounting process, including expense and capital accruals, SOP hours, and interest calculations and postings.
  • Prepare, calculate, and post monthly business license expense, incorporating accurate accruals, payment true-ups, prepaid amortization, and funding request allocations.
  • Gather and organize documentation that supports quarterly internal control protocols and the annual financial audit.
  • Prepare reconciliations for employee-funded benefit plans by aligning payroll withholdings to vendor invoices and supporting accurate balance sheet liabilities.
  • Support DC financial partners by recording monthly accruals and adjustments, providing updated financial statements, and publishing clear monthly close deadline communications.
  • Identify and implement process efficiencies and accounting technology improvements that accelerate, simplify, and enhance the value of the accounting close and reporting cycle.
