Job Description

This position supports operational accounting, reconciliations, reporting, controls, and evolving business processes. It maintains general ledger and subsidiary accounts, prepares financial statements and reports, and develops accounting systems, controls, and procedures. The role partners across business lines and corporate accounting and offers exposure to process improvement, analytics, automation, AI initiatives, and broader leadership responsibilities over time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accounting controls and reconcile general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts.
  • Prepare financial statements and reports for management and regulatory authorities.
  • Maintain and develop automated accounting systems, controls, and procedures.
  • Respond to accounting policy, procedure, and issue inquiries from management, external auditors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Monitor financial activity and support accurate general ledger reporting, controls, certifications, compliance, and audits.
  • Learn operational platforms, financial processes, cash movement, payment processing, and general ledger interfaces.
  • Partner with business line controllers, corporate accounting, and cross-functional teams on accounting, reconciliation, reporting, and controls.
  • Research and resolve exceptions and recommend process and operational improvements.
  • Support BlackLine reconciliation migration and Workday journal entry uploads.
  • Contribute to reporting modernization, analytics, dashboards, automation, AI initiatives, and platform enhancements.


Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent work experience
  • Five to eight years of experience in financial accounting activities


Preferred Skills/Experience
  • Operational accounting experience and interest in responsibilities beyond traditional accounting or audit work.
  • Experience with accounting, reporting, analysis, reconciliations, controls, projects, process improvement, or analytics.
  • Considerable knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulations.
  • Ability to identify and resolve exceptions, analyze data, and recommend improvements.
  • Strong organizational skills with a focus on controls, regulatory compliance, and established procedures.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, AI initiatives, automation, and evolving technology.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple responsibilities, and continuously learn across platforms and business initiatives.
  • Interest in cross-functional partnership, knowledge sharing, reporting modernization, dashboards, and continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of Workday and BlackLine.
  • Proficient computer skills, especially Microsoft Office applications.
  • Interest in future leadership responsibilities and continued growth.
  • CPA or CMA preferred.


Location Expectations:

This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $92,820.00 - $109,200.00
