Job DescriptionAs a
Sr Accountant, you'll play a key role in supporting financial operations of our Helicopter Programs business in Langley, BC. You will be a member of Langley's management team and will perform a variety of internal accounting functions including maintaining the general ledger, research and analysis of business unit and/or sector financial information, detailed analysis of transactions or balances, providing financial guidance to multi-disciplinary groups, and preparing and reviewing a variety of internal financial reports.
Location: Langley, BC (onsite)What you'll do: - Generating regular financial reports for management review.
- Coordinate day to day financial operations, monthly reporting requirements and month-end close including reviewing and reporting significant variances.
- Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including assisting in resolving discrepancies and finding efficiencies.
- Collaborating with other departments to develop and monitor budgets.
- Conducting financial analysis to provide insights into business performance, identifying areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Ensures accounting systems and procedures are in compliance with company policies, acceptable accounting practices and applicable regulations.
- Collaborating with other departments, such as procurement and operations, to gather financial data and support decision-making.
- Assists in the preparation of working papers for periodic government, external or internal audits.
- Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting any unsafe practices/conditions immediately.
- Produces a variety of ad-hoc reporting. Assists in preparation of reports for external and internal reporting requirements. Lead/participate in special projects such as, but not limited to, annual budget preparation.
Position Requirements:- 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience
- Working knowledge of US GAAP and SOX
- Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently multitasking and prioritizing responsibilities in order to meet deadlines
- Team player who thrives in an ever-challenging environment
Preferred Characteristics:- Industry experience in manufacturing or aerospace sector preferred
- Post-secondary degree in Business, Economics, Accounting or other related field ideal
- Experience with public company reporting, internal audit or corporate SOX compliance is an asset
- Holds or is actively pursuing a recognized professional accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA, or CPA). Individuals with an equivalent mix of experience and education will also be considered
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with SQL
- Experience with Oracle, Wands, Navixa or ability to learn new ERP systems quickly
