The Senior Accountant reports to the Supervisor of General Ledger and will ensure all responsibilities are delivered in accordance to governed timelines. The individual must have a proven track record in preparing and analyzing financial statements. This pivotal role will be championing process improvements to foster and cultivate change in a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate should be a highly motivated professional with excellent governance capabilities to drive change and build the technical competencies within the team.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for the month-end close activities, including preparing and posting complex journal entries and accruals.
- Perform detailed balance sheet and bank reconciliations, investing and resolving discrepancies.
- Prepare and develop various financial statements, including cash flow statements.
- Reconcile inter-company transactions.
- Evaluate leases and prepare lease tests as needed for ASC 842 accounting.
- Perform monthly and quarterly balance sheet analysis.
- Handle JV and partner billings, cash calls and capital/expense distributions.
- Perform cash-flow analysis, identifying unusual transactions and collaborate with other accounting departments to properly ascertain the nature of the accounting transactions.
- Research technical accounting issues to ensure proper accounting treatment in accordance to GAAP.
- Assist and perform ad-hoc projects, analysis, and other departmental tasks, as necessary.
QualificationsThe successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
- A CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
- 3 to 5+ years of experience in progressive accounting or general ledger preferred.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of accounting concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Current working knowledge of GAAP.
- 3+ years of experience with ERP accounting systems, Oracle is highly preferred.
- Upheld attention to details, pronounced problem-solver, and be able to present/interpret financial results accurately.
- 4+ years of experience utilizing Microsoft Office applications preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Prefer previous accounting experience with partnerships and/or LLCs in midstream energy.
- Experience in a high volume transactional environment with high level of analytical skills.
- A strong passion for continuous improvement with the courage to lead change.
