Join Our Team at DCFS: Accountant Manager 2This position works within the Fiscal Services Payment Management Unit. The incumbent of this position will perform administrative financial management work while serving as one of the principal assistant to the Accountant Administrator 5.
Minimum QualificationsSeven years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus four years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
A bachelor's degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus four years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics plus four years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics plus three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license plus two years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties:
- Manages the fiscal operations of the LaGov Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system including the Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) system, Tracking Information Payment (TIPS) system, Bank of America Works system and the agency Imprest System (IMS).
- Performs work in accordance with state, federal and departmental laws, policies and procedures and reviewed on the basis of results, reports and by outside independent audit by both federal and state.
- Directs, manages and supervises use of the financial accounting and management systems including LaGov, TIPS, and IMS to process contract and purchase order payments, travel reimbursements, advances and recoupments and manual Imprest payments.
- Trains employees in performance of job duties, assigns and review work of subordinates, ensures accuracy of unit.
- Maintains a system of internal accounting controls to ensure that bank reconciliation and the required banking adjustments.
- Serves on both office and departmental project teams in the design, development and implementation of new management information and reporting systems and the enhancement or modification of existing systems.
- Performs other duties as assigned for the smooth operation of the Department.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. This position may be filled as a probational appointment or a job appointment that may last up to 48 months. Job appointments may convert to probational appointments. Also, it may be filled as a detail and promoted within 12 months or by promotion of a permanent classified employee.
Works Schedule: Typically, work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday. Flexible work schedules are available after meeting certain criteria and is dependent upon the position you are applying for. Some positions require working shifts.
