Overview (Scope of Role)

The Account Manager - Engineered Resins (Automotive) is responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships with clients, identifying new business opportunities, and achieving sales targets within the assigned territory. This individual will drive revenue/margin growth, enhance customer satisfaction, and expand the company's market presence. By effectively managing accounts and providing tailored solutions, the Account Manager directly impacts the company's bottom line and overall success in the marketplace division.

This role will require at least 1-2 days of travel per week to meet with automotive clients and internal team members in the Detroit, MI area. Ideally, the candidates will be based close enough to Detroit, MI to be able commute into the area as needed. However, candidates located in neighboring states (Indiana, Ohio) can be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the sales volume and variable margin growth strategy across all customer accounts and products.
  • Establish and carry out a customer visit program to understand their technical and commercial needs and requirements.
  • Report all sales activities (visits, projects, complaints, etc.) in SalesForce.
  • Sales forecasts based on information provided by customers/market.
  • Manage the development of new business opportunities.
  • Conduct training sessions and conferences with customers and OEMs to ensure proper processing, use, and handling of our products, and identify new technical business opportunities.
  • Provide solutions to technical problems that arise to ensure customers achieve efficient use of our products.
  • Organize and prepare documentation required by automotive customers (PPAP, PSW, IMDS) for approval in automotive programs.
  • Provide support and follow-up on complaints related to the nature and properties of the products issued by customers.
  • Work effectively as part of a multifunctional team including: Research and Development, Supply Chain, Marketing, Technical Service, and Legal within the organization.
  • Support the finance department to maintain a healthy portfolio.
    Operate all businesses in a safe environment and guided by the company's ethics and policies.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, chemistry, process technology.
  • 8-10+ years of experience in sales, marketing, product management roles in B2B environment
  • 3-5+ years in the Plastics/Automotive/Chemical industry
  • 3-5+ years of B2B sales experience with new business development responsibilities ideally
  • Proven record of successfully conducting significant business of a > $25MM portfolio preferred
  • Good Business Acumen & financial skills.
  • Particularly good people mgmt. and leadership skills. Collaborator.
  • Understanding of Automotive segment and compounding market in Automotive and Industrial
  • Ability to balance long-term value add, while being able to meet also short-term volume, margin, and WC goals.
  • Ability to work in a volatile, fast changing business environment.
  • Common sense, responsibility, and accountability
  • Understanding of our mfg. operations fundamentals
  • Ability to manage decision makers at various organizational levels in a multicultural environment.
