Eligibility for Florida certification is required. FL certification in Middle Grades English 5-9 or English 6-12 is a prerequisite for teaching in field. The Bureau of Educator Certification has developed instructional videos to guide applicants through the certification process, covering topics such as Florida's Online Educator Certification System Set-up and the Florida Teacher Certification Application. How to Become FL Certified in Middle Grades English (Grades 5-9):
- Out-of-State Certification: If you hold an unexpired, out-of-state, professional educator certificate in this subject area, please apply for Florida reciprocity.
- English Major: Commonly accepted bachelor's (or higher degree) majors for a Florida temporary educator certificate include: Middle Grades English, Middle Grades Language Arts, Middle School English Education, Junior High School English, English, Literature (English), Creative Writing, Language Arts Literature (English), Creative Writing
