Position Summary
The Senior Product Manager, PEP Solutions is responsible for the strategy, design, development, and scaling of Slavic401k's Pooled Employer Plan (PEP), Multiple Employer Plan (MEP), and related new product initiatives. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role serves as the business owner for defining and maintaining the product roadmap, operational framework, service model, governance structure, and long-term growth strategy for these offerings.
This is an individual contributor role that blends product management, product ownership, business architecture, operational design, and cross-functional execution. The role is focused on building and maturing a scalable product offering, creating structure where processes are still evolving, and partnering across the organization to deliver a consistent experience for adopting employers, participants, advisors, payroll partners, prospective clients, and internal teams.
The ideal candidate has experience building, launching, scaling, or improving products, platforms, programs, or service offerings in SaaS, fintech, payroll, benefits administration, retirement services, HCM technology, financial services, or similarly complex and regulated environments. Success requires strategic thinking, hands-on execution, sound decision-making, stakeholder influence, and comfort operating where the product, processes, and ownership model are still being defined.
Product Strategy and Ownership
• Serve as the business owner for Slavic401k's PEP, MEP, and related new product offerings.
• Develop, maintain, and govern the product roadmap, including enhancements, operational improvements, compliance needs, service capabilities, technology enablement, and growth opportunities.
• Define the future-state business model, operating model, service model, governance framework, success measures, and growth objectives in partnership with the Chief Operating Officer.
• Evaluate market trends, competitor offerings, regulatory developments, client needs, participant needs, and internal pain points to inform product direction.
• Translate business needs into clear product requirements, operational specifications, workflows, priorities, and implementation plans.
• Recommend what should be built, paused, enhanced, automated, or standardized based on business impact, client and participant outcomes, scalability, profitability, compliance obligations, and risk.
• Exercise independent judgment in evaluating product priorities, operational risks, commercial tradeoffs, and alternative courses of action, and make recommendations on matters that materially affect product performance, scalability, profitability, compliance, and client outcomes.
Product Architecture and Operational Design
• Design scalable workflows across the full PEP lifecycle, including sales handoff, onboarding, plan setup, payroll integration, ongoing administration, compliance support, participant services, and client support.
• Create standardized procedures, decision points, controls, governance routines, documentation standards, service expectations, and escalation paths.
• Identify gaps in current processes, ownership, systems, reporting, controls, and service delivery and recommend future-state solutions.
• Partner with internal teams to simplify, standardize, and improve processes while enhancing scalability, accuracy, profitability, reporting, and client experience.
• Develop business requirements for technology enhancements, workflow automation, reporting capabilities, CRM and workflow updates, system integrations, and platform improvements.
• Partner with Compliance and Legal to incorporate applicable regulatory, fiduciary, and contractual requirements into product design, controls, documentation, and change decisions.
Cross-Functional Execution and Change Management
• Serve as the central point of coordination for PEP-related initiatives, working closely with the Chief Operating Officer, executive leadership, Operations, Technology, Sales, Client Success, Compliance, Finance, and other stakeholders.
• Lead working sessions to define current-state gaps, future-state solutions, business requirements, workflows, dependencies, risks, decisions, and implementation plans.
• Drive alignment on product decisions, priorities, ownership expectations, handoffs, service standards, and process changes.
• Support change management by helping teams understand what is changing, why it matters, how responsibilities are affected, and how new frameworks should be adopted.
• Coordinate product initiatives and provide leadership with clear visibility into roadmap progress, blockers, dependencies, tradeoffs, decisions needed, and unresolved issues.
• Maintain clear decision rights, accountability, and escalation paths across cross-functional product initiatives, and follow through on approved actions and outcomes.
Commercialization, Growth, and Performance
• Support the development of product positioning, value proposition, service offerings, and go-to-market strategy.
• Partner with Sales and Client Success to define what can be sold, how it should be positioned, and what operational requirements must be met before commitments are made.
• Develop recommendations regarding pricing considerations, operational costs, profitability measures, service expectations, resource requirements, and business cases for leadership approval.
• Establish performance baselines, targets, ownership, and reporting requirements for adoption, implementation, service performance, profitability, assets under management, participant outcomes, client experience, product health, operational risk, and growth; recommend corrective actions when performance is off target.
• Create dashboard concepts and executive-level updates that provide visibility into product performance, roadmap execution, risks, and decisions needed.
• Develop, maintain, and govern product documentation, including business requirements, process maps, operating procedures, governance materials, service standards, and decision logs.
Skills and Abilities
• Strong product management, product ownership, business process design, and business architecture capabilities.
• Ability to create structure, requirements, workflows, documentation, ownership models, and governance in evolving environments.
• Strong analytical, strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to translate complex operational, regulatory, technology, and business needs into scalable solutions.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across teams without direct authority.
• Excellent written, verbal, facilitation, and executive presentation skills.
• Ability to balance strategic design with hands-on execution, accountability, and follow-through.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, dependencies, and workstreams.
• Comfort operating in ambiguous environments where the product, processes, and ownership model are still being defined.
• Strong financial, operational, risk-management, participant, and client-experience orientation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CRM platforms, workflow tools, documentation tools, and project or product management systems.
Experience
• 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in product management, product ownership, business architecture, operations strategy, program management, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience building, launching, scaling, transforming, or maturing products, platforms, programs, or service offerings.
• Experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives involving operations, technology, compliance, finance, sales, and customer-facing teams.
• Experience creating and managing product roadmaps, business requirements, process documentation, operating models, business cases, governance frameworks, and executive-ready recommendations.
• Experience partnering with technology teams on system enhancements, workflow automation, integrations, reporting, or platform improvements preferred.
• Experience in SaaS, fintech, payroll, benefits administration, HCM technology, retirement services, recordkeeping, financial services, or another regulated industry preferred.
• Experience with MEPs, PEPs, retirement plan administration, payroll integration, or similarly complex multi-employer service models preferred but not required.
Education and Certifications
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Product Management, Finance, Operations, Technology, or a related field required, or equivalent experience.
• Advanced degree preferred but not required.
• Product Management, Product Owner, Pragmatic Institute, AIPMM, PMI, Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), or similar certification preferred but not required.
• Completion or pursuit of credentials related to retirement services, ERISA, fiduciary administration, or plan administration is encouraged but not required.
Work Environment
• 100% remote.
• Occasional travel may be required for client meetings, conferences, vendor meetings, strategic planning sessions, or internal leadership meetings.
• Extended sitting and computer work
• For all virtual remote positions, in order to ensure associates can effectively perform their job duties with no distractions, we require an uninterrupted virtual workspace.
