Job DescriptionThe Maintenance Manager for the production maintenance team provides leadership and cross-functional expertise to maintenance personnel in the packaging areas. Responsible for managing the effective execution of all maintenance and project work within their assigned areas of responsibility. Responsible for team members and all maintenance activities affecting the business. Maximizes the potential of all team members and fosters an environment that allows for progressive continuous improvement of skills.
Primary Activities
Delivery
- Troubleshoots equipment problems, identifies need for new equipment and/or modifications to existing equipment to reduce downtime.
- Ensure that preventative and corrective maintenance support to packaging equipment is performed per schedule and/or business need.
- Work with other Maintenance Managers to plan and execute plant shutdown activities.
- Provide equipment related expertise and technical guidance necessary to troubleshoot and problem-solve equipment related issues to minimize impact to supply.
- Manage adherence to departmental maintenance and operational metrics; ensures adherence to design standards and downtime tracking.
- Resolve and escalate issues impacting supply within the daily, weekly, and monthly IPT management processes.
- Initiates/engages in problem solving and identify short-term and long-term actions to prevent problem reoccurrence.
- Adheres to the applicable escalation process for safety, quality and downtime events.
- Approves IQ/OQ/PQ/CC and other documents.
- Partners with MPS, Process Improvement Engineers and Operators to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Evaluates maintenance impact and serves as the point-of-contact for all new equipment and/or modifications to existing processes or equipment related to their shift/area.
Compliance
- Investigate, determine root cause, and implement robust CAPAs for any team related compliance discrepancies noted during day to day activities and/or audits. Escalate as per IPT management processes.
- Ensure 100% PM compliance per maintenance schedule within team.
- Provide business owner review and approval for IQ/OQ/PQ, SOPs, validation, and change control documentation.
- Participate in internal and external audits and inspections.
- Uses Root Cause Analysis tools to identify true root cause for quality and safety events.
- Authors, reviews, approves and/or participates in quality investigations.
- Initiates, reviews and approves safety investigations
- Identifies quality-related trends and facilitates implementation of corrective actions
- Creates/Revises Standard Operating Procedures, Forms and other batch-related documents
People Management / Leadership
- Assist team with development of objectives and ensure alignment with site goals.
- Provide leadership to the Maintenance team including coaching, development, and performance management.
- Ensure a culture of inclusion and consistency is maintained, supporting positive employee relations at the shop floor level within the team and site.
- Provide mentorship and training to team and peers.
- Liaison effectively with alternate shifts, site Maintenance & Utilities, DMO, and Reliability Engineering teams to share best practices, deliver training, and ensure consistency and alignment in approach.
- Actively participate on cross-functional teams in an inclusive manner to advance project goals and achieve deliverables.
- Provides timely feedback and evaluates/addresses performance of direct reports.
- Assesses employee training/development needs and implement actions to address those needs.
- Supports employee development initiatives in alignment with the business needs.

- Acts as part Site Extended Leadership Team
Cost
- Provides shop floor related input to departmental budget and recommends continuous improvement opportunities and capital projects for the IPT.
- Adheres to and monitors operating budget and staffing plan per Profit Plan.
- Recognizes and investigates opportunities for financial savings.
Continuous Improvement
- Partner with Technology, Quality, and other groups to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives that support the strategic goals of the IPT.
- Identify opportunities to modify standard work, procedures, or equipment to optimize efficiency.
This position will regularly be working 2nd shift, 8 hours, Monday through Friday. Must be willing to work irregular hours/days to support multi-shift operation on an as needed basis.
Education Minimum Requirement: - Bachelor's degree or higher with either; Four (4) years relevant experience in manufacturing, packaging or military service, OR Two (2) years' experience in a direct GMP, manufacturing or packaging setting with demonstrated leadership skills
OR
- High School Diploma/GED with six (6) years of relevant experience in manufacturing, packaging, or military service
Required Experience and Skills: - Demonstrated electro-mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with an understanding of maintenance processes, common equipment, and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as a team leader and team member.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate teams to achieve stretch goals and manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated strong leadership and interpersonal skills with ability to coach, influence and support others through a culture of inclusion, feedback and empowerment.
- Working knowledge of cGMPs and of regulatory requirements as they apply to the pharmaceutical industry.
- Ability to read and understand technical documents, drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency using standard software including MS Excel, MS Word, etc.
- Willing to work irregular hours to support multi-shift operation on an as needed basis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including technical writing experience with investigations, job plans, change requests, standard operating procedures, batch records, protocols, etc.
Preferred Experience and Skills: - Experience with pharmaceutical packaging, and/or serialization/aggregation.
- Maintenance experience; working maintenance knowledge of pharmaceutical processing, packaging, or utility equipment.
- Strong experience utilizing CMMS systems (SAP, etc.), maintenance work management processes, performance monitoring tools, maintenance/calibration related paperwork, process control computer applications, project management practices, and expense and financial systems.
- Experience in Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing, Problem Solving, and/or Right First Time methodologies.
- Familiarity with Change Execution Management and Behavioral Coaching / Consequence Management tools.
- SAP working knowledge.
- Experience supporting regulatory inspections including FDA.
- 5 years coaching/supervisory experience in a maintenance role

The salary range for this role is
$106,200.00 - $167,200.00
This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business or organizational needs.
The successful candidate will be eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive, if applicable.
