Northrop Grumman is seeking Associate Industrial Energetics Engineers. This position will be located at our Defense Systems Sector in Elkton, MD, as part of our Propulsion Systems and Controls Business Unit.
Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY and Palm Beach Gardens, FL.
Elkton, Maryland is located on the Upper Chesapeake Bay, midway between Philadelphia and Baltimore. Roles/Responsibilities:

3 Support analysis and design of Energetics and SRM production operations using IE tools (VSM, line balancing, capacity/utilization, process mapping, standard work).
3 Help develop and maintain methods, standards, and manpower plans (skill matrices, staffing, recovery schedules) to optimize use of facilities, equipment, and personnel.
3 Gather, analyze, and present data on cost, labor, scrap/rework, inventory/WIP, quality, and material flow; prepare charts and concise recommendations.
3 Evaluate and improve material handling and point-of-use logistics to simplify flow, reduce WIP, and improve on-time delivery and rate.
3 Actively participate in continuous improvement and lean activities (Kaizen/AIW, 5S/POU, standard work, RCCA, 5 Why, Pareto) and track/report key operational metrics.
3 Build and maintain data visualizations and 9visual factory9 tools (Excel, CORE, Tableau, MES dashboards) to support data-driven decision making and capacity/utilization modeling.
3 Assist with facility layout and operating method changes, ensuring safety requirements, visual controls, and accident-prevention considerations are built into standard work.
3 Collaborate across functions, support training and documentation, and build systems awareness (MES, ERP, scheduling, data collection) while developing toward larger CI and capacity-planning responsibilities.
Basic Qualifications:
This requisition may be filled at either a level 1 or a level 2. Basic qualifications for an Engineer 1 are a Bachelor9s Degree. Basic qualifications for an Engineer 2 are a Master9s Degree.

3 Be completing or has completed their degree (Bachelor9s, Master9s, or PhD) from an accredited institution by December 2026
3 Be majoring in or having majored in Industrial Engineering
3 Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)

3 Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher
3 Previous internship experience
Salary Range
Level 1: $72,700 - $109,100
Level 2: $87,600 - $131,400
