Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the designated 1st Class Chief Engineer for the site and ensure plant utility and powerhouse operations are conducted in compliance with applicable regulatory, safety, and operating requirements.
  • Provide daily leadership and direction for powerhouse and facilities personnel, including communication with shift engineers and review of operating logbooks.
  • Oversee plant operations and maintenance activities, including review and prioritization of maintenance work and management of MAXIMO work orders.
  • Coordinate daily operating reviews, start-of-shift meetings, SPQRCE reviews, and other routine operational meetings to maintain alignment on safety, quality, responsiveness, cost, and environmental performance.
  • Support incident review, safety observation activity, housekeeping standards, and continuous development of GMS practices within the powerhouse/facilities area.
  • Prepare schedules, support overtime planning, manage training coordination, and provide direction to team members to ensure adequate operational coverage and capability.
  • Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to support repairs, maintenance planning, materials procurement, and documentation control.
  • Complete administrative responsibilities including timekeeping, planning, purchase requisitions, documentation, and communication follow-up.
  • Identify and implement operational improvements that enhance reliability, compliance, efficiency, and overall plant support capability.


Required Qualifications
  • Valid 1st Class Chief Engineer certification appropriate for the site's operating requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of plant utility, powerhouse, maintenance, and safe operating practices.
  • Experience leading plant operations, maintenance coordination, and contractor/stakeholder communication in an industrial environment.
  • Working knowledge of GMS, safety processes, standard work, and continuous improvement methods.
  • Proficiency with plant systems and business tools such as MAXIMO, SAP/material processes, Microsoft Office, and electronic communications.
  • Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in an automotive manufacturing or large industrial utility environment.
  • Experience supervising or directing shift-based operations teams.
  • Familiarity with timekeeping, maintenance planning, procurement support, and structured daily management systems.


Compensation

The salary range for this role is $97,800.00 to $146,600.00. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
