Job Summary

At this time, only current PSEG employees are being considered.

As a Sr. distribution supervisor you will be responsible for providing supervision in the construction, operation and maintenance of underground Gas distribution facilities. Achieve the desired results of the Gas Distribution Department through the use of PSEG values and tools, sound management practices and skills and a total commitment to teamwork. You will manage all aspects of Distribution operations on a day-to-day basis and direct team in accomplishing desired results. As well as ensure quality and quantity of work performed is in compliance with Company standards and procedures, safe work practices and government regulations. You will be responsible to Maximize system reliability by ensuring timely and effective planning and scheduling. You will be responsible to Develop MAST and bargaining unit personnel to effectively meet goals and performance objectives. Assist in the development of objectives and the budgets to support these objectives and maintain operating expenditures within allowable variances.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision in the construction, operation and maintenance of Gas Distribution facilities.
  • Achieve desired results through the application of PSEG core commitments and behaviors, sound management practices and skills, and a commitment to teamwork.
  • Manage all aspects of operations on a day-to-day basis and direct team in accomplishing desired results. Oversee operations to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Assist in the development of objectives and budgets to support objectives and maintain operating expenditures within allowable variances.
  • Ensure quality and quantity of work performed is in compliance with Company standards and procedures, safe work practices, environmental and government regulations.
  • Maximize system reliability by ensuring timely and effective planning and scheduling.
  • Develop staff and bargaining unit associates to effectively meet goals and performance objectives.
  • Coach, counsel and recognize associates; conduct fact-finding and grievances as required. Ensure on-call coverage and accept call-out obligations.
  • Perform various other functions as needed for storm/outage restoration efforts, which may require working in alternate locations.


Job Specific Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • 6 years relevant work experience, including 3 years as a First Line Supervisor
  • Strong leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills including written and oral communcation; ability to achieve results in challenging situations
  • Experience in the planning/layout/construction/operation/maintenance of gas distribution facilities
  • Experience and understanding of Collective Bargaining agreements
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Strong knowledge of SAP and CAD
  • Strong knowledge of Gas Distribution Standards
  • Safety Sensitive Position - D.O.T. Testing Required
  • Demonstrated planning and organizational skills
  • Strong written and oral communcation skills
  • Because the job requires driving to company locations and off-site assignments and events, must possess a valid driver's license with a safe and satisfactory driver history
  • Must obtain an acceptable score on the First Line Supervisor's Test (FLST) unless presently and internal employee directly supervising (i.e. responsible for performance review) blue collar, operating department/represented associates for a minimum of 12 continuous months. For those who have previously taken and received an acceptable score on the FLST but who are not presently and directly supervising represented associates, test results will be valid for a maximum period of two years from the date the test was taken. Acceptable test results exceeding the two year period (for those applicants not presently and directly supervising represented associates) cannot be used in bidding on or applying for a first line supervisory position for which the test was validated.
  • Compliance with the Department of Energy's regulation 10 CFR 810 is required
