Full Job Description
The LV Electrical Balance Engineer is responsible for modelling, simulating and governing the 12V energy management and components sizing. The role ensures the vehicle's capability to supply the required 12V energy across all life phases and use cases, in compliance with performance, reliability, and architecture requirements.

The position aims to ensure that products meet performance, quality, innovation, and reliability targets throughout the entire development lifecycle.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Generator Sizing and Electrical Balance
  • Lead the end-to-end generator sizing process for 12V electrical systems, including alternator and DC/DC converter assessment, in alignment with vehicle program requirements and applicable engineering standards.
  • Engage cross-functional stakeholders to collect, validate, and converge all required input data.
  • Consolidate vehicle configurations, component reference names, nominal consumption values, component behavior profiles, and generator output curves to support accurate electrical balance simulations.
  • Run electric balance simulations, analyze load budget results and identify risks related to generator capability, load consumption, and vehicle mission profiles.
  • Define, simulate, and validate load activation or load reduction scenarios to reduce total electrical consumption when required by generator sizing results.
  • Manage official release of generator sizing reports, ensuring traceability of assumptions, decisions, approvals, and project communication.

Battery Sizing
  • Lead the 12V battery sizing process, including static and dynamic Ignition-Off Draw (IOD) calculations, for Logistic Mode and Customer Mode vehicle use cases.
  • Collect and consolidate vehicle configurations, network architecture design, component reference names, nominal consumptions, and component behavior data required for battery sizing calculations.
  • Define use cases and services to be considered in Logistic Mode and Customer Mode, including time-dependent Key-Off activities, service activation scenarios, and applicable vehicle lifecycle phases.
  • Develop full IOD calculation reports, including battery state of charge behavior over time, risk assessment, and compliance with target parking or logistic duration requirements.
  • Ensure official release of the full IOD calculation report, maintaining consistency between calculation inputs, technical decisions, approval status, and project requirements.

Load Consumption during Homologation Cycle
  • Collect and consolidate homologation driving cycle information, including cycle phases, operating conditions, vehicle configuration, and applicable low-voltage network assumptions.
  • Identify active electrical loads during the homologation cycle and define their operating profiles, activation logic, duty cycle, and percentage of use in collaboration with the relevant engineering stakeholders.
  • Calculate the total low-voltage network consumption during the homologation cycle by integrating load nominal consumption, activation timing, usage percentage, and driving cycle assumptions.
  • Assess the impact of low-voltage electrical consumption on the homologation cycle, supporting technical evaluations related to vehicle energy balance, CO2, fuel consumption, or electric range impact as applicable to the vehicle program.
  • Review calculation assumptions, results, and proposed conclusions with cross-functional teams, ensuring technical alignment and decision traceability.
  • Prepare and release a dedicated homologation cycle load consumption report, including input data, methodology, assumptions, calculation results, impacts, open points, and approvals.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in automotive electrical architecture and energy management
  • Knowledge of battery systems, alternators, and vehicle energy consumption
  • Experience with simulation and calculation tools (Excel, MATLAB, or equivalent)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in cross-functional and international teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with electrical load analysis and calculations
  • Knowledge of vehicle network topology, architectural and system requirements
  • Familiarity with automotive development processes and design reviews
  • Experience with SABER tool
