Senior Electrical Hardware Validation Engineer

DSN is seeking a Senior Electrical Hardware Validation Engineer based in Mossville, IL. This position focuses on electronic hardware failure investigation, field return analysis, and validation testing in support of product development for a leading industrial manufacturer. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on lab experience, sharp documentation skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional and global engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Manage production part returns and lead failure investigations on field-returned heavy electrical hardware

Execute validation testing on NTI/NPI/production parts

Receive and track incoming test material and coordinate outbound shipments

Develop test plans and ensure they are properly executed within product development

Maintain thorough documentation for both field returns and in-development products, including part tracking, test procedures, and test results

Maintain lab equipment and lab organization

Report out on test results and failure investigations to cross-functional team members and management

Team & Collaboration
  • Collaborate daily with a global controls engineering team, including partners in Canada, China, Mexico, and Thailand
  • Work alongside suppliers, dealers, and other engineering groups
  • Provide regular updates to first-line managers and cross-functional stakeholders outside the immediate team
  • Join a team structure that includes an Architect (product direction), Platform Leads (business/program management), Technical Leads (technical development and execution), and a Lab Manager (lab coordination)


Work Environment
  • Combination of office and lab settings, with regular movement between the two depending on current duties
  • Lab PPE required: safety-toe shoes with EH rating and safety glasses

Requirements

Candidate Requirements

Education & Experience:
  • BSEE (preferred) or BSEET with 8+ years of experience
  • MSEE with 5+ years of experience
  • Associate's degree in EE/EET with 12+ years of experience


Top Skills:
  • Electronic hardware failure investigation and analysis
  • Electronic hardware test execution using lab equipment (power supplies, oscilloscopes, DMMs, etc.)
  • Strong documentation practices across all aspects of the role


Additional Technical Skills:
  • Test plan development and review
  • Test report writing
  • Electronics product development testing
  • Electronics hardware failure investigation
  • ECM/ECU experience (preferred)
  • EMC and vibration testing experience (preferred)

  • Strong verbal and written communication across audiences, from peers to mid-level leadership
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail
