Job Summary

At this time, only current PSEG employees are being considered.

The Technology Engineer supports the Nuclear Real-Time Systems (Operations Technology) team. The role is involved in the full system life cycle and responsible for designing, coding, testing, implementing and supporting application software and systems. Sr Associate IT Engineers work closely with Analysts and Product Managers to understand the business requirements that drive the analysis and physical design of technical solutions. Sr Associate IT Engineers may be assigned to either development or support functions. Development involves installing new systems and upgrades whereas support involves, maintenance or issue resolution to existing applications and systems.

Job Responsibilities

  • Analyzes end-user needs and designs, develops and tests solutions to satisfy demand.
  • Partners with business analysts to translate business requirements to application requirements.
  • Creates process flowcharts, diagrams, and other related documentation;
  • Develops technical workflows using different modeling techniques
  • Ensures that the design and system implementation meets security and QA standards. Suggests fixes to issues by doing a thorough analysis of root cause and impact of the defect
  • Analyzes system reports to ensure that the functionality and performance meets all product and service level requirements.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot servers, desktops, networks (Cisco), operating systems, and virtual hosts using a disciplined development process. Works on tasks that require skills in multiple technical environments and knowledge of a specific business area.
  • Support engineering modifications, technical evaluations, and OT fleet peer-group collaboration. Applies operation break fixes and other proactive maintenance activities until permanent solutions can be implemented. Supports and participates in the maintenance of plant process computers, physical security systems, and other nuclear OT systems.
  • Conduct cyber security monitoring, periodic activities, incident response, and support NRC inspections.
  • Perform system programming, analysis, and troubleshooting across multiple platforms (Windows, Linux/Unix, OpenVMS).
  • 24/7 support of critical operation system on a weekly rotating basis.


Job Specific Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or Information Sciences preferred.
  • Typically requires 0-3 years of work experience in Information Technology.
  • Ability to learn new business and technical concepts.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Flexible and willing to accept a change in priorities as necessary.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Basic knowledge of the practical application of role specific engineering science and technology including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Ability to create both technical and non-technical end-user documentation.
  • Ability to work independently with individual and team goals as guidance.
  • Familiarity with Linux Operating Systems Key Skills and Knowledge.
  • Ability to obtain ESP (Engineering Support Population) certification.
  • Must meet and maintain nuclear requirements for Unescorted Site Access and maintain fitness-for-duty requirements.

  • Demonstrated understanding of projects from the perspective of both client and business.
