Job Summary

The Meter-to-Cash SAP FI-CA Architect and Senior Consultant leads the architecture, design, implementation, and support of SAP FI-CA and Meter-to-Cash (M2C) solutions for electric and gas utilities. This role provides technical and functional leadership across SAP and non-SAP applications, with deep expertise in SAP FI-CA configuration and business processes, including payment processing, returns, refunds, collections, security deposits, payment installment plans, dunning, cash desk, check processing, payment kiosks, reconciliation keys, General Ledger integration, and regulatory payment assistance programs. The position owns the operational support of critical Meter-to-Cash platforms, including non-SAP M2C applications, production support, application monitoring, incident resolution, server upgrades, infrastructure patching, SSL/TLS certificate renewals, and system enhancements to ensure reliable utility operations. The role partners with business and technology stakeholders to define solution architecture, drive systems integration, and deliver secure, compliant, and scalable solutions that improve operational efficiency, financial integrity, and customer experience. This position reports to the Meter-to-Cash Senior IT Manager.

Job Responsibilities

  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to translate strategic objectives into SAP FI-CA and Meter-to-Cash solution architectures, roadmaps, and capability models.
  • Design, govern, and maintain scalable, secure, and reusable architecture standards, policies, patterns, and best practices aligned with enterprise technology strategy.
  • Lead architecture and integration of SAP FI-CA, SAP IS-U, non-SAP Meter-to-Cash applications, and enterprise platforms to ensure secure, reliable, and compliant solutions.
  • Collaborate with implementation, infrastructure, security, and vendor teams to guide solution delivery, resolve complex technical issues, and ensure compatibility with enterprise standards.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, cloud services, and modern architecture practices to drive innovation, continuous improvement, and digital transformation.
  • Provide technical leadership for architecture governance, technology investment decisions, and enterprise modernization initiatives.
  • Communicate architecture strategy, business value, and solution outcomes to technical teams, business stakeholders, and executive leadership.
  • Coordinate application releases, upgrades, disaster recovery planning, production support, and operational readiness for critical Meter-to-Cash platforms.


Job Specific Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field preferred; 8+ years of relevant experience with a degree or 10+ years without a degree.
  • 8+ years of experience implementing, configuring, supporting, and enhancing SAP Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable (FI-CA) solutions in electric and gas utility environments.
  • Deep expertise in SAP FI-CA configuration and Meter-to-Cash business processes, including payment processing, returns, refunds, collections, dunning, security deposits, payment installment plans, cash desk, check processing, payment kiosks, account maintenance, and regulatory payment assistance programs.
  • Strong understanding of SAP FI-CA integration with SAP IS-U Billing, Customer Information System (CIS), General Ledger (FI), reconciliation keys, clearing and settlement processes, lockbox processing, and enterprise financial reconciliation.
  • Proven experience supporting end-to-end Meter-to-Cash (M2C) business processes and associated SAP and non-SAP utility applications.
  • Experience managing production support for mission-critical applications, including incident management, root cause analysis, performance tuning, application monitoring, server upgrades, infrastructure patching, SSL/TLS certificate renewals, and change management.
  • Experience integrating SAP FI-CA with enterprise and third-party systems using SAP CPI/PI-PO, APIs, IDocs, web services, and related integration technologies.
  • Strong understanding of utility financial operations, customer accounting, regulatory compliance, and revenue management within electric and gas utility environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage vendor relationships, and deliver large-scale SAP Utilities implementation, upgrade, and transformation projects.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Must be eligible to comply with U.S. Department of Energy regulation 10 CFR Part 810.

  • SAP Certified Application Associate - SAP FI-CA and/or SAP Utilities (IS-U) (preferred).
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA Utilities and SAP S/4HANA transformation or migration projects.
  • Experience supporting non-SAP Meter-to-Cash applications and enterprise integrations within a utility environment.
  • Experience with implementation of AMI solution and integrations with SAP.
