Position OverviewThe Weston Public Schools is seeking a 1:1 Nurse to help with the development, implementation, and management of a student's Individualized Health Care Plan (IHCP), on the school bus to and from school, and during the school day. This is a full-time, school year role, Monday-Friday 7:30 am - 3:30 pm. reporting to the Director of Health Services and the Director of Student Services. Pay is dependent on licensure: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) not licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) as a School Nurse: $45.00 per hour. DESE-Licensed School Nurse: Compensation is determined in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement currently in effect.

- Provide everyday care for the student in accordance with the IHCP
- Collect information about the health and development of the student
- Administer medication and medically prescribed treatments
- Assess student response to nursing interventions and revises the database, nursing diagnoses, and nursing care plan as needed
- Consult with the School Nurse, Director of Health Services, School Physician, and School Principal to review and revise student's IHCP, policies, procedures, and specific programs for managing student health, education, and services while in school
- Promote positive safety procedures, and ensures the school has a medical emergency plan that is communicated to key school personnel
- Responsible for responding to emergency situations
Desired Qualifications - Valid license to practice as a registered nurse in Massachusetts
- Bachelor's degree in nursing from a college or university program in nursing accredited by the National League for Nursing recommended. Bachelor's degree in a related field may be acceptable if all other requirements are met.
- School Nurse license from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education preferred
- Certified in CPR for healthcare professionals through a recognized provider (e.g., American Heart Association)
- Minimum of two years of nursing experience in school nursing, community health, or child health
- Recent emergency management in an acute care setting preferred
- Basic computer knowledge including: Microsoft Word, Excel, and electronic medical record systems
- Completion of an orientation program based on the requirements for delivery of school health services as defined by the Department of Public Health
