Job Title: Facility EHS Manager
Reports Directly to: General Manager
Position SummaryUnder the direction of the General Manger, will assist with the overall supervision and administration of safety, accident, and fire protection programs to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Deliver outstanding performance by maintaining a safe and healthful environment for site operation. You will identify and anticipate concerns and hazards and develop and enforce systems, policies, and procedures.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership/Safety Culture/Compliance- Champion the Balfour Beatty ZERO Harm Culture
- Develop, Lead, and Execute strategies to drive the site-wide safety culture towards minimizing safety risk and achieving an injury free operation.
- Implements and drives continuous improvement activities and best practices.
- Manage, lead, and oversee the environmental aspect of the facility and the safety programs within the facility.
- Champion employee empowerment to identify and address safety concerns, and generate new ideas related to safety and health.
- Promote and participate in employee involvement programs such as project teams, committees, and internal training.
- Actively participate in incident investigations and resulting recommendations for improvement, which also includes tracking metrics, preparing and filing safety incident reports, and applying findings.
- Carry out safety risk assessments prior to starting a new process, including safe installation of equipment through internal and external resources.
- Maintain the NC Star safety programs and related compliance audits.
- Develops and coordinate Management Training, Annual Refresher Training, New Employee Training, Task Specific Training, Independent Contractor, and First Aid Safety Training Programs to be presented to all employees.
- Conducts EH&S performance compliance audits to ensure the safety of our workplace and employees.
- Maintain and increase professional knowledge and expertise related to the fields of environmental protection, occupational health, and industrial safety. Staying up to date with health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Conduct safety inspections, accident investigation, workers' compensation reporting and mitigation techniques. Ensure all are properly logged and documented
- Routinely walk the plant reviewing for trip hazards, housekeeping issues, electrical related risks, and other potential safety risk items. Identify and recommend preventative measures and corrective actions.
- Coordinate safety boots and prescription safety eyewear programs. Conduct safety inspections, accident investigation, workers' compensation reporting and mitigation techniques. Ensure all are properly logged and documented.
QualificationsEducation & Experience- 5-8+ years of facility safety experience, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership or management role.
- Preferred a Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent industry experience).
- Strong knowledge of DOT, EPA and OSHA industry standards, and industry best practices.
- Preferred Certifications: CSP, CIH, OHST, ASP, OSHA 30/500, First Aid/CPR.
Skills & Competencies- Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and field demands.
- Proficiency with EHS management systems, reporting software, and Microsoft Office.
- Valid US driver's license
Physical RequirementsAbility to walk, climb, and stand for extended periods.Ability to lift 25-50 lbs. as needed.
- Ability to wear required PPE (hard hat, safety boots, high-visibility vest, gloves, fall protection, respirator) if required.
