Responsibilities

The Senior Manager, Powerplant Engineering is responsible for providing daily technical oversight and leadership of the Powerplant Engineering team and will support the internal and external maintenance and operational activities as they relate to our fleet of engines. In addition to the aircraft engines, the Sr. Manager will have the same oversight and responsibilities with the 191-9a & APS3200 APU product lines that support our fleet of A319/A320 and A321 aircraft. Ensure engineering documents have proper technical justification, effectivity, and applicability.

Drive technological innovation and develop fleet-wide reliability programs that will improve the operational readiness and overall safety of our powerplant platforms.
Keep abreast of innovative technologies and industry technical developments and advancements and will provide fleet improvement recommendations for our engine, APU, and component programs to drive the highest level of component safety, compliance, and reliability.
Manage and control the required engine and APU component / system hardware and software configurations.
Generate an engine removal schedule to optimize engine time on wing and cyclic life of engine LLP.
Monitor engine and APU A.D. complianceIssue workscopes to address APU and Engine associated repairs and alterations.
Focal point for vendors on technical issues relating to APUs and Engines, and establishment of procedures for coordinating/resolving technical issues with vendors.
Provide part replacement determinations consistent with vendor general terms agreements to maximize utilization of Company inventory during station visits.
Review APU and Engine Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, Service Letters, All Operator Wires, etc and recommend pertinent action.
Conduct fleet surveys and other data collecting efforts in the APU/Powerplant arena.
Provide build specifications, and part number interchangeability information in area of APU and Powerplants/Engines.
Evaluate engine test runs and provide detailed calculations and reports consistent with Company standards.
Assist in APU and Powerplant troubleshooting efforts as required and evaluate fleet Engine Trend Reports as required to support Company lease obligations.
Generate a schedule for engine washes to optimize engine fuel consumption.
Monitor engine shop visits and allocate replacement engine components to minimize engine shop visit cost and turn time.
Generate documentation to satisfy aircraft lessor’s requirements to receive engine maintenance reserves from the lessor.
Monitor engine component reliability and implement a plan to improve engine component reliability.
Design matrixes and data tables to support positive resolution to complex operational issues
Maintain operational security integrity with consideration to operational costs
May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change when circumstances dictate (e.g., emergencies change in workload, rush jobs or technical developments).

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Commercial Aviation, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
5-7 years' experience
Available 24/7 or as directed to respond to maintenance control inquiries and assistance with active aircraft troubleshooting
Strong communication skills, both written and orally
Available for domestic & international travel under 10% of time
