In the pivotal role of Manager, Global Quality Assurance and Product Regulatory Compliance, you will be entrusted with the day-to-day management of our global inspection network. This includes shaping and implementing quality inspection and certification processes. You will also direct product compliance and our state-of-the-art product testing laboratory at our Headquarters in Freeport, Maine.

Responsibilities:

• Manage compliance: Ensure products adhere to all relevant safety, health, and environmental requirements imposed by local, national, and international governing bodies.

• Oversee regulatory affairs: Stay current with changes in product safety regulations and provide guidance on adapting and complying with these changes.

• Supervise regulatory reporting: Oversee preparation and submission of required regulatory reports, and ensure the organization is prepared for related audits or inspections.

• Develop compliance training: Create and deliver training on product compliance and safety to foster company-wide understanding and adherence.

• Research and apply regulations: Identify specific regulations and standards applicable to products based on category, market, and geographic location. This requires understanding local, national, and international requirements.

• Conduct product testing and certification: Carry out necessary tests and assessments to verify product safety, quality, and performance. Engage third-party testing and certification bodies as needed.

• Prepare documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of product specifications, test results, safety data, and compliance certificates.

• Collaborate as part of the Quality Assurance team: Continuously monitor and improve systems, methods, and product and service quality.

• Utilize metrics: Implement continuous improvements based on metrics and other performance indicators. Gather and analyze performance data, producing statistical reports as required.

• Develop standard operating procedures: Coordinate and develop SOPs for field staff and other QA personnel.

• Improve supplier quality: Drive improvements in suppliers’ quality management systems.

• Liaise with vendors: Align with vendors on corrective action and compliance within product standards and specifications, perform data collection and analysis, communicate standards, issues, and changes.

• Provide leadership: Offer high quality and effective leadership to team members and present development opportunities to staff.

Health and Safety Requirement: Every employee is responsible for contributing to a safe and healthy workplace. Skills & Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree in a related field such as Engineering, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, or Risk Management

• 5-7 years of experience in product safety or a compliance role in a related industry is required. Familiarity with relevant standards and regulations such as those provided by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is essential.

• Experience within a product testing lab/facility is highly desired.

• Ability to apply logical thinking to identify strengths, opportunities, and solutions to complex safety and compliance issues.

• Proven record of overseeing projects from inception to completion, meeting deadlines and managing multiple tasks.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex compliance issues and potential risks to cross-functional partners and stakeholders.

• Strong ability to analyze product design, manufacturing processes, and end products to meet compliance and safety requirements and regulations.

• 4 weeks of global travel per year required.
