Charlie Health has set out on a mission to reimagine how high acuity care is delivered to young people and families in crisis. Our initial offering is a virtual intensive outpatient program, which places peers with similar mental health experiences and goals into customized virtual groups. Our team of masters-level clinicians lead groups multiple times per week to deliver a higher level of care.

About the Role

Design sits at the center of the Charlie Health experience. As a Senior Product Designer, you’ll help redefine how people experience (and deliver) mental healthcare, infusing every moment of their Charlie Health product journey with design excellence. All while caring for every single pixel.

Responsibilities

You’ll be focused on shaping the Charlie Health user experience through exceptional product design. You’ll design end-to-end feature sets that help people meet their mental health goals.
You'll play a prominent role in shaping our company’s product vision and bringing it to life, serving as an expert of product design craft and evangelist of design excellence. You'll collaborate closely with Design, Product, and Engineering counterparts to design user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity product features that support our business goals and serve our clients (while delighting them along the way).
You’ll own the user experience for your team, partnering deeply with your PM counterpart to identify the right problems to solve, then deliver a solution that meets the needs of your users and the objectives of the business. You’ll bring the voice of your users in each and every conversation, consistently revealing how meeting their needs drives our business forward.
You’ll conduct rigorous research early and often, through a variety of quantitative and qualitative methods. In an average week, you’ll execute data analysis, hold user interviews, and dig into exploratory conversations with your stakeholders.
You’ll be the fiercest advocate for our users. You’ll devote yourself to building empathy for their individual needs, consistently weave cultural considerations throughout your solutions, and prioritize diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and representation in your work. You’ll bring authentic empathy and intention to every choice you make.
You’ll influence the Charlie Health Product Design System, introducing new ways to leverage our modular design system while continuously evolving how our design language embraces our cross-platform experience. You’ll up-level the product design toolkit to ensure every touchpoint feels cohesive, successful, and pixel-perfect. Charlie Health’s digital products will grow to embody both your strategic points-of-view and aesthetic stamp.

Requirements

You have at least 5 years of experience in a product design role.
You’re a UX expert. You have a thorough understanding of effective interaction patterns and an impressive ability to leverage heuristic analysis to ship impactful solutions. You validate the effectiveness of your designs by both shipping incrementally and planning, conducting, and analyzing usability tests.
You’re an accessibility specialist. You always design with standards such as WCAG in mind, delivering interfaces that consider (and even celebrate) the needs of individuals with impairments, limitations, or disabilities.
You have a demonstrated history of launching thoughtful, research-driven digital products. From initial needs-finding, through ideation, early-stage prototyping, testing, iteration, and delivery of high-fidelity designs, you own the end-to-end product design process.
The products you’ve shipped are beautiful, functional, and solve real problems. You know when to push a design for the benefit of creating an ownable and delightful experience, without compromising usability or accessibility.
You bring both “complexify” and “simplify” instincts to your daily feature execution. You know when to go deep in requirements and trade-offs, and when to reduce noise to propel the team forward.
You’re an exceptional communicator. You have strong interpersonal instincts and the poise to navigate the fast-paced ambiguity of a startup.
You provide thorough, strategic rationale to align stakeholders towards your vision, and you feel energized when collaborating closely with both your cross-functional and design teammates.
Preferred experience: You have shipped products that involve electronic health records (EHR) systems and telemedicine platforms. You have knowledge of healthcare compliance and regulatory standards such as HIPAA, GDPR, and FDA guidelines. You design with security and privacy considerations in mind.
You’re authorized to work in the United States, and have native or bilingual English proficiency.
You are able to work a hybrid schedule of 4 days/week in our NYC office. #LI-Hybrid

Additional Information

The expected base pay for this role will be between $140,000 and $210,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay will be determined on an individualized basis and will be impacted by location and years of experience. Further, base pay is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Charlie Health-sponsored benefits.
