Directors lead a portfolio of account teams who provide operational support to various fiscally sponsored projects.

This role is ideal for experienced operations professionals with deep knowledge and understanding of best practices in client services and managing public charities. Directors are segment leads who are responsible for upholding excellent client services standards among all team members. They may have a specialty area that dictates the portfolio of projects they advise on and the internal strategic initiatives they contribute to. This role requires a deep understanding of nonprofit operations and compliance, project management, sophisticated client and staff management skills, strong implementation capabilities, and a passion for creating positive social impact.

This position generally reports to a Senior Director, Partner Solutions.

Essential Responsibilities

Client Services

Serve as an advisor and thought partner for staff and projects within assigned segment, ensuring strong adherence to Partner Service Standards, internal policies and procedures, and legal compliance; build strong, trusted relationships with clients so as to create a strong platform for partnership

Provide oversight and quality control on projects related to financial reporting, revenue tracking, scoping, pricing, profitability, client communications, and funder relations

Manage the operational needs of assigned Key Strategic Account partners, ensuring team adherence to guidelines

Synthesize information and surface important trends and improvements to Success Team leads

Contribute to the analysis and reporting of outcomes within assigned segment

Engage with internal cross-function teams to ensure efficiency and effectiveness

Develop and maintain relationship with key stakeholders

Participate in business development conversations with prospective and existing clients as assigned

Team Leadership & Internal Strategy

Participate in the extended leadership team for Partner Solutions, supporting the implementation of the department’s strategic plans

Lead a segment of an assigned Success Team, owning the service and people management responsibilities and outcomes

Own or contribute to internal workstreams as assigned

People Management

Oversee and manage performance accountabilities including setting individualized goals and managing to role expectations for each direct report; ensure performance accountabilities for skip level direct reports

Contribute to professional growth and satisfaction of staff in assigned segment by providing appropriate direction, support, guidance, and mentorship for staff at all levels

Promote a firm culture that centers equity and belonging; develop and share relevant skills and issue-area expertise

Directly manage team of 3-4 mid-level team members, including performance management and a focus on developing, motivating, and mentoring direct reports

Contribute to retention strategies to support stable team management

Oversee time utilization for direct reports and assigned segment; liaising with assigned capacity direct as needed

Convey, support, and as appropriate, translate firm messages from leadership to direct reports

Elevate segment staff voices, needs, and concerns to team and firm leadership

Other Responsibilities

Participate in, or lead, office, team, or firm initiatives and programs as assigned

Support the development of more efficient processes, systems, and technology as assigned

Participate in or develop/lead training and learning activities throughout the year

Support new business development by meeting with potential clients, evaluating projects, and developing collateral, proposals, and budgets as assigned

Support creation, communication, and adherence to department policies and procedures

Convey, support, and as appropriate, translate firm messages from leadership to direct reports

To Be Successful in This Role, You’ll Need

Required

8-10 years of relevant professional experience

Demonstrated ability to provide excellent client service, including effectively managing resources and identifying and implementing enhancements to efficiently achieve high service standards

Knowledge of nonprofit budget management, financial reporting, forecasting, and profitability monitoring

Experience coaching staff and teammates on how to address complex service challenges

Ability to oversee and advise on multiple complex projects, including encouraging workflow and work plan innovations, and ensuring high quality deliverables

Excellent written and oral communications skills which allow you to understand various stakeholder perspectives, effectively communicate difficult messages, and represent the firm to external audiences

Proven ability to guide teams in overcoming collaboration challenges and promote compromise, inclusion, and openness while meeting aggressive timelines and maintaining accountability

Ability to foster and promote safe and inclusive environments to build team connections and trust

Creative problem solving and ability to identify innovative approaches to solve complex challenges

Deep knowledge of nonprofit governance and legal compliance

Preferred

Familiarity and/or experience working within a fiscal sponsorship structure is a plus

Familiarity with the rules governing 501(c)(3)’s and 501(c)(4)’s

An appreciation for efficient processes and a desire to improve them

This position can be Hybrid in in Chicago, IL; Durham, NC; or Washington, D.C., please note that all Arabella Advisors’ offices have reopened, and we work in a hybrid environment.

We reopened our offices in Summer of 2022 and work with a hybrid workplace strategy to ensure continued flexibility for our staff, while deepening our strong culture rooted in collaboration and in-person interactions between colleagues. Total Rewards (compensation and benefits)

This is a full-time position. We offer a competitive and holistic total rewards package that includes salary, bonus, and benefits. Our compensation ranges are based on salary ranges for similar sized organizations in the professional services sector and adjusted for local labor market rates and differentiated by geography.

Pay Ranges for This Position

Durham pay range: $92,000.00 - $105,000.00

Chicago pay range: $96,000.00 - $108,000.00

DC pay range: $102,000.00 - $115,000.00
