About the Role:

The Director, Total Rewards is responsible for the design, implementation, execution, and on-going evaluation of AGF’s total rewards program. You will be involved in all aspect of total rewards, including base pay, short and long-term incentives, and benefits. Reporting to the VP, Total Rewards, you will ensure programs and practices are effective to support business strategy, for attraction and retention of talent, and meet applicable legal requirements.

Your Responsibilities:

Ensure compensation practices and programs are aligned with business priorities, market practices, legislative requirements, and AGF’s total rewards strategy
Lead the end-to-end annual year-end compensation process, including budgeting, merit increase and incentive (Short and Long-Term Incentives, Sales, and Investment Management) process, reporting and communications
Oversee the overall market intelligence and review process to assess AGF’s competitive positioning and present recommendations to key stakeholders
Lead the development, implementation and administration of compensation programs supporting Retail Distribution, Institutional and Investment Management
Maintain partnership with key stakeholders to support the development and administration of compensation programs and processes, including HR Business Partners, Finance, Legal, Compliance, and Operations
Lead Pay Equity reviews, where applicable, and maintain Pay Equity plans to ensure compliance with legislative requirements
Support broader total rewards initiatives
Support the transformation of compensation data, analytics, and processes
Manage and coach a small team of total rewards professionals
Develop and maintain professional relationship with peer investment management firms regarding compensation trends and issues

Your Qualifications:

University degree in business administration or related disciplines
Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation is an asset
Minimum 10 years of progressive/relevant business experience in employee compensation and incentive plan design
Experience working in Investment Management and/ or Financial Services industry
Knowledge of wholesaler and investment management compensation plans is an asset
Demonstrated experience with compensation principles and concepts, including knowledge of job levelling, pay structure, and compensation budgeting
Excellent project management, analytical and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated sound judgment and ability to work independently
Expert proficiency of Excel and PowerPoint, with experience creating management presentations
Experience with managing and coaching a team
Ability to present and position ideas, initiatives, and gain buy-in and support
Ability to span business needs with technical concepts and present compelling point of view with an executive audience
Experience with Workday HCM is an asset
