System and Network Administrators combine the disciplines of computer systems expertise (the components that make a computer run), and network expertise (the science of making all computers in a network work in harmony). While a systems admin would be concerned with, for example, data setup, recovery, upkeep and security, the network admin would focus on configuring and supporting a businesses LAN and WAN networks. In many cases, the responsibilities of the positions do overlap. Qualifications include bachelor’s degrees in computer science or IT and related certifications.
