CallisonRTKL seeks a strategic Transition Planner with extensive healthcare facility experience to join its Healthcare Technologies Group located in Dallas. This position will provide support and expertise for all phases of facility transition and applies a broad knowledge of transition through a coaching, consultative service model. The ideal candidate will have experience building strong working relationships with clients and team members based on trust and credibility.


  • Coaches project teams and team leaders through the planning, coordinating and executing of a full healthcare facility transition by the organization
  • Develops tools and templates to support the facility transition efforts of leadership and transition teams
  • Creates and presents to executive, clinical, operations, facilities, construction leadership and project teams to facilitate transition efforts of the initiative
  • Assists in creating, reviewing and maintaining project documentation for all facility transition team projects
  • Conducts occupancy planning discovery sessions and documents finding to distribute among transition team members
  • Conducts occupancy activity sessions to coordinate initial stock and staff schedule for maintenance by activation lead
  • Conducts move planning discovery sessions and document findings to create initial move sequence schedule and move/occupancy manual
  • Provides expertise and guidance to teams involved in building and staff activation efforts including but not limited to training, department activation, security and dual operations
  • Provides expertise and guidance to teams involved in patient relation efforts including but not limited to scenario-based training, patient transport procedures, security, infection control, equipment and command center operations
  • Conducts post-occupancy evaluations (lessons learned) to evaluate success of transition along with opportunities for improvement or additional services
  • Writes reports or analyses of planning issues and promotes transition planning objectives through education 
  • Oversees the quality control and delivery of documents
  • Establishes operational goals and objectives to ensure timely execution of the relocation
  • Develops working relationship with clients and client representatives
  • Manages project schedules during each phase of the project
  • Understands the goals and objectives of the firm and acts to further them
  • Coordinates and/or supervises the work of others and mentors junior staff


  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Business, Education, Finance, Technology, Organizational Effectiveness or related Healthcare field
  • Master’s degreepreferred
  • 10 years of progressive management and leadership experience to include acute healthcare facility transition services
  • Registered Nurse (RN), Project Management Professional (PMP) or Advanced Medical Planner
  • Strong project management skills with experience with various project management tools and applications
  • Experience in multiple industries served through healthcare facility transitioning
  • Experience in innovating new and current ways to design and execute healthcare facility transitions based on client needs
  • Strong organizational and planning skills to successfully plan, organize and deploy transitions and moves of facilities, departments, personnel and equipment
  • Experience in developing and presenting training and education programs preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to include ability to synthesize information and prepare papers, manuals and articles
  • Experience in lean methodology and or process redesign projects preferred
