Maxim's Automotive Division is seeking an experienced Product Definer for our Power Management Business Unit to define industry leadings products for our Infotainment, Display, USB, Low Voltage PMIC, Interior/Exterior LED, and High Voltage power product lines.
Potential candidates should have solid semiconductor industry experience and are continually self-educated on key trends and technologies. As a Product Definer, you will work on cutting edge power management solutions with industry leaders globally and Maxim’s internal IC designers to create products that solve real industry problems. The candidate will be continuously involved in the early engineering efforts of product concepts, roadmaps, and market analysis, and is empowered to drive the technical direction of the product line portfolio.
Successful candidates have in-depth knowledge of power management products, such as DC-DC converters topologies, linear regulators, backlight LED drivers, battery chargers, battery chemistries, and miscellaneous I2C/UART/SPI/CAN/LIN serial interfaces. Automotive vehicle level electrical requirements and knowledge/experience in various automotive systems is also required.
Candidate must be able to work closely with Maxim business managers, field engineers and account managers to support new or existing Maxim products in customer designs. Duties will include schematics reviews, PCB layout reviews and support of technical problems that occur during the customers' product development stages.
The candidate is also responsible to:
Travel globally to engage with key partner customers and Maxim internal design staff.
Create industry leading product definitions that can be launched into design.
Engage with R&D to pull internal leading edge core technology developments into the Automotive BU product roadmaps.
Write technical documentation to support customer designs, product evaluation boards, as well as full system operation.
Provide reference schematics with supporting worst case analysis’s in MatLab, MathCad or Excel
Characterize and validate new products with our application team to ensure 0ppm operation
Interface with customers and the business team to understand market trends and customer needs to create product roadmaps
Provide trainings to FAEs and customer engineers globally
10-15 years relevant experience and a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
10-15 years of automotive electronics design or product definition experience
Ability to travel globally 2-3 weeks per quarter
Location: Chandler Arizona or Brighton Michigan
