s a hands-on Senior Engineer, you’ll have an opportunity to develop and design innovative and modern web andmobile applications that offer measurable business value to Slalom’s clients. The individuals in these roles may work in either a pure development role, help architect and design a solution, or act as a technical lead. The ideal candidate is invigorated by new challenges, seeks out new learning opportunities, leads from the front, challenges the status quo, and builds the skills of team members through technical and professional coaching.

Responsibilities: 

  • Be an active member of a growing team; help define and influence team culture & environment
  • Design, develop, test, review, and deploy custom web and mobile applications
  • Assist with estimating work efforts required for each phase of a project
  • Work in a fast-paced, agile project environment with small, focused teams
  • Work on rapid prototyping projects with cutting-edge technologies

Key Technical Skills:

  • Strong experience with C# or Java, as well as databases (SQL and/or NoSQL) 
  • Strong knowledge of modern JavaScript and HTML/CSS (AngularJS/2/4, React, NodeJS preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of Agile development practices 
  • Experience collaborating across multiple functional/technical teams to deliver a project
  • Proven ability to learn new technologies quickly and apply the gained knowledge to address business problems

Desired Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of MongoDB, Cassandra, and/or other NoSQL databases
  • Mobile development experience (Native iOS/Android, Xamarin, or hybrid)
  • Cloud (AWS, Azure, or Google)
  • Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD, and automation is a definite asset

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Computer Science)
  • A minimum of 5 years’ post-higher education relevant work experience in application development
  • Experience influencing software design and technology selection, an asset
  • Mentored and developed fellow engineers, an asset
