Job Description: 

Responsible for all transportation needs in Fairview Pharmacy Services including contracting, development, execution and fulfillment which ensure a high level of customer service and compliance with any regulatory requirements.


Position responsibilities include:

Manage Operations:

  • Manage in bound and out bound freight assuring there is adequate warehouse storage for current and future projects

  • Maintain warehouse compliance with OSHAlaws and regulations in coordination with supply chain

  • In partnership with IT, develop and maintain IT shipping platform including backup protocols, emergency preparedness plans and training.

  • Develop equipment training and certifications needed to maintain warehouse operations

  • Packing and Transit Quality Control

  • Responsible for all testing and packaging for Specialty and Home Infusion

  • Ensure all Joint Commission and URAC compliance requirements are met specific to drug stability, chain of custody, transit and storage as well as medicare and pharmacy requirements

  • Accountable for education and compliance of packaging guidelines and regulations for pharmacy personnel, including special drug handling


Manage staff:

  • Provide leadership and mentoring for staff, and establish goals, projects and initiatives. Foster an atmosphere of teamwork

  • Assure staff are scheduled appropriately to meet customers’ needs. Develop and implement a productivity measurement model. Oversee productivity levels of staff to maximize efficiency and control costs

  • Complete timely performance reviews of staff according to policy. Continually monitor staff performance, provide feedback, and take appropriate corrective action

  • Interview and select qualified individuals to fill vacancies and build the team

  • Provide leadership in team building and conflict management

  • Promote open and effective lines of communication within the work group, and with other departments and entities

  • Orient and mentor new employees and document progress

  • Ensure ongoing education of staff. Identify training needs and utilize in-house or outside resources to try to meet those needs


Manage finances:

  • Seek and implement strategies to improve efficiency and control costs

  • Manage costs within projected budget

  • Seek and implement strategies to meet budget targets.

  • Lead contract negotiations and/or RFP process related to compliance and fulfillment of FPS supply, purchasing and courier agreements.


Required Education:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

Three years previous supervisory experience in a pharmacy, warehouse or inventory environment
