Workers Compensation Specialist

*Must have experience with LITIGATED worker comp claims.

*Must have 5 - 7years of experience minimum.

*Director or VP Level candidates will not be considered.

*Will only consider LOCAL candidates.

*Travelrequired: up to 10%.

This position is responsible for managing multi-line claims, including Workers’ Compensation, Property, and other assigned claim losses.

The role acts as a direct liaison between management staff, employees (teammates), claim adjusters, carriers, insurance brokers and defense counsel.

The position is accountable for handling claim analysis, expeditingclaim settlements, and providing claimssupport to teammates at all levels within the Company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all inclusive.

Analyze assigned claimsinventory to determine ultimate potential exposure, adequacy of case reserves, and develop proactive case settlement recommendations.

Partner withcontracted Claim Administrator(s) to expedite claim closure, integrity of claims data, and resolve problems of varying scope and complexity in accordance with State statutes.

Provide claimssupport to Field operators, initiate and maintain close contact with injured teammates to help guide them through the claims process, and coordinate return-to-work needs with the Leave of Absence department.

Generate metrics reporting for assigned claim inventory; present trends to Senior Management.

Analyze claims data to identify loss control needs.

Assist with developing loss prevention strategies.

Train and educate facility Managers on claimsreporting protocols.

Immediately escalate exceptions or outlier circumstances to department Managers, and provide problem solving options.

Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned, including but not limited to:

Special projects, meetings, phone conferences, claim reviews, and training sessions.

Understand and follow all Company policies, including Claims handling and reporting policies and procedures.

Flexible schedule and ability to travel, if required.

Travelrequired: up to 10%.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

*Bachelor’s degree in related area required.

*Workers’ Compensation industry certification in multiple jurisdictions including but not limited to industry certificates such as WCCP, WCCA, etc.

*Minimum of five years’ experience managing multiple line claims, including Workers’ Compensation.

*Must have intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

*Exceptional time management skills, ability to prioritize, and the ability to multi-task effectively.

*Strong, proven interpersonal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow through.

*Analytical, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills required.

*Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, MS Outlook, and PowerPoint).

Fluent in the written and verbal skills necessary to perform successfully the essential functions, duties, and responsibilities of the position.

Vision adequate to perform essential duties and responsibilities of position.

Ability to lift minimum of 5 pounds to a maximum of 20 pounds unassisted. Able to sit for extended periods of time and to perform some standing, stooping, walking, stretching, reaching, lifting as well as moderate range of body motions.

Ability to use computer and all peripherals for extended periods of time.

Ability to use telephone for extended periods and to resolve complex issues in conversation.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Level III - Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).

No required tasks involve greater exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues than would be encountered by a visitor.

The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids or other hazardous conditions.

Normal hazards associated with business travel.
