This position reports to the Director of Claims Management and is responsible for taking a proactive approach to managing Work Comp claims and transitional/modified duty programs. The proactive approach contemplates not only active and forward-looking claims management, but also continuous development, implementation, and enforcement of processes related to the prevention, reporting, and handling of work injuries. Success of transitional/modified duty programs will be reflected by the percent of participation.


  • Coordinate reporting and investigation of work injuries with Operations and Safety
  • Report new work injuries to Third Party Administrator
  • Monitor claim handling activity by Third Party Administrator
  • Monitor, analyze, and report to internal client reserves and reserving activity (including reserving internally)
  • Establish and maintain internal electronic files, including notes, records, statements, and correspondence
  • Establish and monitor relationships with outside vendors and monitor expenditures for cost effectiveness
  • Establish and monitor relationships with outside legal counsel and monitor expenditures for cost effectiveness
  • Identify "best value" metrics in carriers and providers
  • OSHA and various state-level compliance and reporting including reporting, postings, panels, internal reporting, and other internal communication
  • Other government reporting and legal compliance as required and needed
  • Trade association reporting
  • Communicate legal notices to various legal teams
  • Communicate status of drivers in accidents and those who have sustained work injuries
  • Same and similar duties as outlined above of non-trucking, corporate, operations, sales and accounts, and office employees/staff
  • Establish and develop work injury prevention programs, including with outside vendors and recruiting teams
  • Other duties as required

  • Medical training a plus, but not required
  • Bachelor's Degree in a business-related field or relevant experience
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated success in managing a claims program that spans state lines
  • Experience with transportation-related claims and/or workers compensation claims preferred
  • Experience managing a Workers Compensation Claims Process in multiple states
