Description

Administrator II, Wireless Data Operations is responsible for operating and maintaining the Wireless Data/IP network. Compile and maintain accurate data for traffic reporting and provide technical administrative support for the department.  To include; coordinating installation, testing, and troubleshooting of transmission facilities associated with the Data/IP network, upgrading and administering multiple vendor systems; maintaining system applications; ensuring quality customer service; and providing support to the company’s internal business groups responding to problems affecting customers.

Essential Duties for this position: 

  • •                    Performs daily operational checks and preventive maintenance on all Wireless Data/IP and associated equipment.
  • •                    Compile and generate statistical / traffic & network performance reports, including bandwidth usage. Identify the bottleneck on associated IP links.
  • •                    Performs system software and hardware upgrades working with engineering.
  • •                    Maintain and administer traffic, bandwidth usage monitoring and alarm systems and servers.
  • •                    Work closely with Engineers and other internal business groups to resolve problems affecting customers. Ensure compliance with network SLAs (Service Level Agreements).
  • •                    Communicates information effectively regarding system status, and attends to all required reporting in a timely manner. Updates daily logs with site-specific information; and maintains system documentation
  • •                    Tracks repair parts and materials according to established procedures. Understands and applies all safety practices in the workplace.

 

Job Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • •                    Broad based knowledge of and ability to maintain cellular data systems, and wireless networking equipment; those are found in a cellular data core network.
  • •                    Basic understanding of how systems functions in a wireless data environment such as cellular data service, SMS, MMS and other related services.
  • •                    Ability to communicate effectively, including oral reporting, working with other network administrator, technicians and engineers, documenting problems and filing reports.
  • •                    Ability to work in stressful situations and maintain focus on proper troubleshooting and maintenance procedures.
  • •                    Procedurally oriented with a deep concern for quality customer service.
  • •                    Ability to work in a team environment, sometimes as lead, and with minimum supervision.
  • •                    Familiar with all test equipment common to a wireless data and IP network.
  • •                    Excellent computer skills and ability to use common office applications, and technical applications common in a telecommunications environment.
  • •                    Dedicated to continually improving personal skills, and the group’s ability to serve the customer.

 

Qualifications

 

  • •                    Minimum of four years of relevant experience in systems, networks or wireless telecommunications, Data / IP networks.
  • •                    High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • •                    Associates degree in networking or related field required.
  • •                    OR, in addition to minimum experience required, degree may be substituted with a combination of relevant work experience and/or education sufficient to perform the duties.
  • •                    Certifications:  CCNA or CCNP (Cisco) highly valued.
