We are seeking Windows Systems Sr Administrator at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois.

Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network engineers. Sets up administrator and service accounts, maintains system documentation, tunes system performance, installs system-wide software, and allocates mass storage space. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products.

Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation, and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
 

Job responsibilities include:

  • Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network engineers.
  • Sets up administrator and service accounts, maintains system documentation, tunes system performance, installs system-wide software, and allocates mass storage space.
  • Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products.
  • Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation, and provides backup recovery.
  • Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.

Required Skills:

  • 3 to 5 years of Windows Server system administration experience
  • Active directory, DHCP, and DNS
  • Windows Server 2008/2012 administration and troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of server virtualization technologies
  • VMware vCenter configuration, troubleshooting, and tuning (ESXi 5.x, HA, DRS, Virtualcenter)
  • VMware Horizon View virtual desktop working knowledge
  • Comprehension of common network concepts: VLAN, Switching, OSI layers
  • Capable of diagnosing system hardware issues
  • Familiar with high availability/clustering concepts and engineering
  • Familiar with fundamental networking/distributed computing environments and concepts.
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills: capable of training users in complex topics, making presentations to internal groups.
  • Ability to perform securityaudits and remediate vulnerabilities to protect the systems against intrusion. 
  • Independent problem solving; self-directed, self-starting.
  • Ability to lift up to75lbs

  • VMware Certified Professional Horizon View Desktop (VCP5-DT)
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP5) • Windowsscripting (inc. Powershell)
  • VMware scripting (Power-CLI & others)
  • Knowledge/understanding of Cloud Technologies
  • RSA experience
  • Tier 2/3 Customer Support experience
  • Netapp / Quantum storage technologies
  • System capacity analysis and planning
  • Performance tuning of Horizon View ESXi & vCenter
  • Experience with large datacenter operations to include power management, rack organization, networking, and storage
  • Working knowledge of Army information assurance methods and practices

Qualifications:
DESIREDQUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS or equivalent + 2 yrs related experience, or MS + 0 yrs experience
  • Active Secret clearance
  • Must have security+ certification
