Wholesale Credit Risk is responsible for lending activities, portfolio monitoring, and managing investment-grade credit exposures within the Corporate and Investment Bank and the Commercial Bank. The teams are generally organized by industry, and work closely with coverage and product groups to support business needs. The Vice President combines superior analytical skills with credit and industry knowledge, to make and support credit decisions for a portfolio of clients. They collaborate across credit risk and the business teams to meet client credit requests, while balancing the risk-return needs of the Firm. They constantly monitor their portfolio to accurately assign risk ratings to clients and facilities, while ensuring a robust culture of compliance is adhered to at all times. They are exceptional partners with all colleagues, and are skilled trainers and developers of the junior team members in Wholesale Credit Risk.

Vice President in MNC Wholesale Credit:

  • Monitors a portfolio of clients focusing on both primary and operating exposure
  • Remains current on all aspects of the credit relationship, including exposure, compliance, potential problems and opportunities
  • Provides credit expertise in structuring and negotiating loan and derivative transactions
  • Leads or assists in negotiating and finalizing documentation for loans and derivatives
  • Exercises credit approval for lending and trading exposures
  • Works with CIB Coverage, CB Coverage and Americas Corporate Banking on capital allocation for clients; maintains threshold and industry limits
  • Performs credit diligence on an ongoing basis for North American subsidiaries of MNCs headquartered overseas (inbound MNCs)
  • Provides a cohesive and comprehensive approach to ratings, risk assessment, portfolios and clients and sectors within multiple industry sectors for a broad array of international MNCs with significant US operations (portfolio of 200 + credit families)
  • Partners with CIB Coverage, CB Coverage and Americas Corporate Banking both at parent and subsidiary level, DCM, SLF, Treasury Services and Sales and Trading groups to ensure client needs are met and credit exposures are accurately assessed
  • Recommends credit decisions and partners with EMEA, APAC and Latam Credit Officers for final credit approval
  • Leads the discussion and respond to questions regarding clients during internal and regulatory audits of the portfolio
  • Coordinates, supervises and manages the workflow of junior team members as well as take responsibility for their training and development
  • Takes ownership of assigned clients and projects and independently develop a credit opinion
  • Remains current on all aspects of the credit relationship, including exposure, threshold management, compliance, potential problems and opportunities for JPMorgan to add value
  • Owns credit and grading policies in relation to MNCs and provides recommendations to enhance relevant policies based on credit, industry and regulatory changes
  • Helps drive and support innovation and continuous efficiency improvements


  • Excellent credit/underwriting credentials, analytical skills and experience plus in-depth knowledge of accounting and corporate finance
  • Solid knowledge of loan and derivative products, documentation and structuring
  • Minimum of five to seven years of related experience at an Investment or Commercial bank. Experience managing junior resources is a plus
  • Strong client interaction skills and outstanding verbal and written communication skills – able to partner with internal groups and interface with external clients
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
