Job Summary

The WebKit team seeks a software engineer excited to work on cutting edge technologies for the world's most popular web engine. Weʼre looking for engineers with exceptional problem solving skills, a passion for quality, and the desire to push the web forward. Graphics features and drawing performance are more important on the web than ever. With your 3D graphics expertise, you will be responsible for implementing and driving the standards for graphics technologies on the web. The Safari and WebKit team is responsible for the Safari web browser, the fastest browser on OS X and iOS. The WebKit rendering team is responsible for all visual aspects of the web, including layout, 2D and 3D graphics, text, forms, media, and other technologies that serve as the foundation for Safari and other WebKit applications on OS X and iOS.

Key Qualifications

  • Experience with 3D graphics technologies, such as Metal, OpenGL, DirectX, and Vulkan
  • C or C++ programming experience
  • Excellent debugging, critical thinking, and communication skills

Description

You will be responsible for driving the future of graphics on the Web by working on 3D and GPU-based Web technologies such as WebGL and WebGPU. Your contributions will help keep the WebKit open source project at the forefront of defining the Web. As a good communicator, you'll work with organizations like W3C to help propose standards, refine them, and strengthen the Web community.

Education

BS or equivalent

Additional Requirements

* Detailed knowledge of C and C++ * Experience with OpenGL and Metal tools * Detailed knowledge of web standards: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, DOM, WebGL, WebGPU, WebVR * Working knowledge of Objective-C and Xcode * Experience with the Almost Native Graphics Layer Engine (ANGLE) project * Experience with web standards groups * Experience with open source projects and source control, including svn and git * Familiarity with details of specific GPU implementation and architecture * Knowledge of software security
